Catherine's Story

Life Well, after school I worked for a few years, then I went off to college. I even had a brief (2 month) engagement to David Jaworski a few months after graduation. I majored in electrical engineering at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) which is where my husband graduated from (a few months before we got married). I then became a stay-at-home mom. Our first son passed away as a preemie, but our second son (also a preemie) is starting kindergarten in fall of 2005 (at Red Apple). I got married in '97 to a fellow MSOE electrical engineering student, Jim. Together we have 2 sons (Andrew passed away at birth in '97, we'll aways miss him). Sam was born in '99 and is spoiled rotton. We also ahve 4 cats, and my mom lives next door while my baby brother, Justin, his wife and their 3 live a block away. I can't believe how domestic I've gotten since Sam came along. I even drive an SUV! I got my ham radio license in july of 2003 (I'm KC9EOW, look me up at qrz.com) and I do a lot of radio activities, plusI'm a youth director and sunday school teacher at Messiah Lutheran church, and spend time with friends. I am also an artist and a writer. I just got my first poem professionally published in fall of 2004, and I've sold paintings and drawings locally. I also work with clay and make jewelry. I often bum around with my son, Sam, and my brother's daughter, Heather (she's 10, he's 5). My in-laws (thankfully) live in Chicago where my husband grew up. Other than that, I get bored easily so I'm always sticking my nose into new projects. School I remember hanging out with Meg (a lot), Sharon and Kristen. I still see Chris Beimeck (he is now dating my cousin, WIERD!), and Alex Voss (he's a friend of my husband, even WIERDER). I only kept in touch with Meg for a few years...Expand for more
after school, but we lsot touch after she moves to L.A. in '93, and I went off to college in '94. College I attended MSOE for a while (electrical engineering) and went to MATC (paralegal studies - specializing in patent/technology law) and I use pretty much none of it in my work as an artist/crafter here at home. I pledged Phi Delta Chi when I was at MSOE and loved it. I do miss college and wish I could have finished but I ran out of money (darn it) but I will go back someday. Okay, I use SOME engineering stuff in my hobbies as a ham radio operator (KC9EOW usually on 147.27 FM or 144.34 simplex here in Racine). I'm going BACK to MATC this fall, I have a year or so left to finish both degrees, then I'm going in debt up to my eyeballs to finsih MSOE (they recently dropped the first 2 years of the EET program, so I need to finish at MATC first). Doubt I'll be hitting law school at Marquette like I wanted to anymore. My 5 year old (who's starting kindergarten) will probably in high school at Walden by tiem I finish my bachelors. Workplace I worked as a legal secretary after high school for a few years, before packign up and moving to Milwaukee to go to college. I worked as a legal secretary in a downtown law firm while I was living in the dorms a few blocks away. When I left school (lack of money) I went to work in engineering. I left work to have kids (doctors orders) and the hubby & I agreed to let me go back to school when our littlest one started school full-time, which Sam does this fall. I worked through Aerotek doing temp engineering stuff, but mostly at Exec-PC until I got married in '97. Shortly before Sam was born in '99 we moved back to the Racine area, and I started working as an artist doing sculpture and painting. Even sold quite a few pieces, too.
