College
College was always on my mind through High School, so I graduated early as a Junior in High School.. but college was not easy. I started college early and really was not prepared to do the studying and did not like English courses in College. I had not taken English Prep classes in High School, so Composition was a tough class. Science came easy for me though, and so was math. I knew I wanted to be in a Health Career so I picked Medical Technology. To work in a Laboratory was a dream for me as a kid. My classes were tough at Northern Illinois University. After the third semester I ended up changing my major to Radiology Tech. Now at a Junior College I had felt I had not done well at all. But life is funny and I soon found out Radiology was a good choice as a career. I graduated from Kishwaukee College in 1979 with an Associated Degree in Radiologich Technology and began my field as a Radiologic Technologist. Having been a Tech for over twenty years now I realize this was a wise choice for me as I have grown with the field. I now do Mammography and have seen the changes in my proffession. Federal guidelines have impacted my career to the point where we now have to maintain two licenses. And in California we still have to maintain to more licences. Well enough said about Radiology. I...Expand for more
n the year 1999 I graduated from the local Community College with an Associated Degree in Aviation Management. I thought I wanted to work for the Airlines. Well after our national problem with 911, I soon realized this may be a bad choice to change careers. I have put my Diploma on the shelf and still await some time to decide where my Aviation degree may take me. Any suggestions are gladly accepted... Thanks for being a medium for me... To all college bound kids and adults, educating yourself and learning is ongoing. Even as adults we still have many options, so never give up!!!!
Workplace
MAMMOGRAPHY IS MY CURRENT CAREER.. EVEN THOUGH I THOUGHT IN '99 I MIGHT CHANGE TO AVIATION. THE 911 EVENT CHANGED THAT FOR ME.. AS THE AIRLINES STARTED LAYING OFF THEIR WORKERS. WELL BEING IN THE MEDICAL FIELD HAS BEEN CHALLANGING AND EXCITING. MONEY IS OK FOR A WOMAN. MOST MEN CAN MAKE JUST AS GOOD WITHOUT THE INTENSE LABOR I DO MOST DAYS. I HAVE HELPED MANY WOMEN AND DOCTORS WITH THE BEST IMAGING POSSIBLE. RADIOLOGY HAS BEEN A GOOD CAREER AND I RECOMMEND IT FOR THE YOUNG. NOW I WORK PERDIEM/PART-TIME AS MY GRANDCHILDREN DEMAND MORE OF MY TIME.
MY SISTER AND I ALWAYS HAD CHORES ... DISHES, COOKING, CLEANING ETC. BUT WHEN WE HAD FUN WE KNEW IT WAS TIME TO EXPLORE... SO WE PICKED SOME CORN IN THE NEAREST CORNFIELD AND SOLD IT TO THE NEIGHBORS... FOR TEN CENTS AN EAR... ONLY TO FIND OUT LATER, WE HAD PICKED ANIMAL FEED CORN... WHO KNEW? WE WERE JUST LITTLE ENTREPRENEAURS... AND OF COURSE EVERYONE ATE THE CORN.. O MY!!
