Cathy's Story
Life
I have been living and working in California since 1973. My name is now Cathy Nabkel. I have a daughter, a son, 1 grand-daughter, and a dog. My husband and I love to travel. From 1989 to 1995, we drove over 45,000 miles in our motorhome. We've driven to Alaska, across Canada, and have crossed the US 7 times. We've visited most of the western national parks. We sold our motorhome and bought a vacation home in South Lake Tahoe, CA.
I retired in August, 2004. Retirement is great. My hobbies are collecting miniature objects and creating room boxes, reading and traveling. We've been to Europe several times.
For our 30th anniversary, we went to Alaska on our first cruise. We discovered that we enjoy cruising.
In March 2009, we flew to Sydney, Australia to visit friends. Then we went on a 14...Expand for more
day cruise which ended in Auckland, New Zealand. We rented a car and apartment for a week and explored the North Island of New Zealand. It was very interesting driving on the left instead of the right. New Zealand is a beautiful country. I would love to go back and explore the South Island.
In October 2009, we finally made it to the Panama Canal. On the way our ship stopped in Mexico, Costa Rica, Columbia and Aruba. I wouldn't mind repeating that trip. It was everything we hoped it would be. It ended in Fort Lauderdale, where we rented a car and a condo and explored southern Florida for a week.
In 2011, we took a cruise to Hawaii. It was very relaxing. The weather was perfect. and we met many interesting people. As usual, we rented a car and explored, whenever we were in port long enough.
