Cathy's Story

Life Hey all, How does the song go--Life's been good so far, a few bumps and bruises but nothing I couldn't handle. I'm a divorced mom of three with two in college and my third about to start high school and I can't believe how fast it's all flew by and, of course, I didn't age a day since high school--LOL. My oldest son is a dual major at SMU in Springfield studying art and education and wants to be a high school Art Teacher. At times I wasn't sure whether school was going to beat Brad or Brad was going to beat school, so it was a bit of a surprise when he decided to go into teaching. He chose teaching to make a difference for the kids like he was so they won't give up and I am proud of him. My daughter is studying engineering at a private college in Grand Rapids MI, obviously, not math phobic like her mom. Corinne has made the Dean's list and is studying aboard in Germany for the summer and enjoying the experience. My youngest will start Parkway South this fall Class of 2010, definitely sounds like a star date from "Star Trek"--that's scary. He loves baseball and plans to also try out for cross country in the fall. They're great kids and I'm very proud of all of them, bet you couldn't tell--LOL. When I'm not on domestic engineer duty I spend my time as working at Magellan Health Services doing inpatient reviews and I like my job and find it reasonably rewarding. The pay isn't bad and it keeps the wolves away from the door so you can't ...Expand for more
ask for too much more. I've lived in Ballwin for 23 years now and have watched it grow up around me, definitely a lot more houses and traffic and I thought I needed to avoid Manchester Rd back then. At least I know all the shortcuts. I feel lucky to have good friends to share my life with and have stayed in touch a number of people from high school and it's always a joy to catch up. Feel free to drop me a line or two and I'd be happy to get back in touch. Take care. Workplace My first job, like most, was working at 6 Flags in Food and Beverage-learned quickly I didn't want to work in a restaurant. Spencer Gifts basically put me through college, I was just in there recently, I thought it was kinda risque when we were in high school--it's a whole new experience now. Worked at the Post-Dispatch in advertising until Brad was born. Afterwards was going to school for accounting and working for Schnucks and I did that until Corinne was born 3 years later. Then did the Susie Homemaker/domestic engineer/super, duper Parkway volunteer for a lot of years. But in the course of my stint as a volunteer, I did a lot of PR work for Parkway and withinn the scope of that we, the parents and staff managed to put together for a single weekend in October 10,000 volunteers to build a playground for the elementary school-that was cool. After my divorce I got retooled and received my Master's in Counseling and have worked as a counselor/therapist ever since.
