Life
I'll keep the saga brief. Straight out of high school, I attended Grossmont College. A couple years later I married into an instant family with a single dad and his son and moved to the Midwest. We moved back to California to the L.A. area. After my divorce, I returned to San Diego, this time to the beach and not La Mesa. My ex-husband basically gave me his son, Raymond, and I finished raising him (I now have two great grandkids, Claire and Jake). When Raymond started college, I went back too and finished at the University of Redlands. I worked for PacBell for 13 years, took a buy out, then broke into the news business. d in '97. I left the paper in '98. I've published five books and am currently working on two more. After Hurricane Katrina hit I was asked to cover the rescue of animals for Best Friends Animal Society's Web site and magazine. Before that, I was an adjunct journalism instructor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for five years. Gave it up to stay in New Orleans as a full-time writer for Best Friends. I've bought a cabin in Julian, Calif., am renovating it and plan to split my time between San Diego and Las Vegas. I hike quite a bit on Mt. Charleston and in Red Rock Canyon with my dogs, but the high desert clearly is not San Diego. Mostly, I miss the ocean -- and friends and family. I always say, no one was ever meant to live in the Mohave Desert. I'd love to hear from you.
