Cathy's Story
My school years were uneventful and boring, only friends made the days fly by. Left Woodbridge summer before senior year to move "down the shore". Although I left some really close friends, I loved living so close to the ocean and spent most of my time there, winter-spring-summer-fall (the ocean and I had some really awesome conversations, it was my salvation and confidant). Although I always swore I would or could never ever leave the shore, I did, in 2005, and moved to the claustrophobic dusty land locked midwest known as South West Iowa. What can I say - love makes you do funny things sometimes. Anyway. wa (pop. 250) where I lived for 3 yrs. When my husband passed away in November 2008, I packed up and moved HOME, back to the shore and I don't think I'll leave ever again!
Don't get me wrong, IA was beautiful, the scenery and landscape awesome...it's where all the land is, actually, with skies bigger than you can ever imagine, and at night, billions of stars so close you swear you can touch them...in spring and summer the cornfields and soybean fields boast more shades of the color green than Crayola could ever create. The amber, yellow and bronze hues of harvest in early fall complete the pallette.
But, I realized that unless you're a farmer, you have absolutely no right or reason to be there (and the folks will tell you that, too!).
