Cathy's Story
Life
I am married to my husband Gary, with an 14year old daughter, a 25 year old step daughter, a 28 year old step son and a 6 year old grandbaby. I work for Verizon Telecommunications in Portand,Texas as an Installation-Repair Manager. We have a home in Corpus Christi, and live in San Antonio, Texas. I am very actively involved in the democratic party and a member of Holy Name Catholic Church (who would have every thought this Baptist girl would convert?). My husband, Gary works for the Veterans Administration, teaching blind and low vision vetrans to use computers and sight equipment.

e I went to work for GTE. After six years at GTE, I went to work for CWA Local 6171 as Vice President and worked for them for 9 years though maintaining all seniority and benefits through the company. In 1997 I chose not to run for re-election and went back to work for GTE who later merged with Bell Atlantic and now is Verizon Telecommunications. With 28 years service with the phone company, I have performed many duties, ranging from time spent working for the union as an instructor, lobbiest, organizer and representative during the corporate level grievance procedure to my current position of Local Manager of Installation/Repair. My most recent adventure was "pole climbing" school, in Dallas Texas...that was interesting!!!
