Cecelia's Story

Life Hmmm...well, I've changed in that I'm a lot more outgoing than I used to be. I'm married to a handsome fella that is a firefighter/medic and have had 17 wonderful years (and counting) with him. I have dogs that I actually do dog sports with (agility, tried flyball, will try that again), I've gone from being a beauty consultant to a nurses aide to presently Certified Massage Therapist. I am now currently in TCC going for the certificate in American Sign Language. I'm looking at changeing my career again and possibly becoming an ASL interpreter. School I did not have it easy in high school. I had experienced the death of my grandmother, who basically raised me. I had to take care of a handicapped mother because I'm her only child. The pressure that she put me under was not something that should be put on anyone. If I had it to do all over again, knowing what I know now, I would have seen about getting someone from the health department to come and sit with her while I was in school. Otherwise, I do have some good memories of school...Expand for more
. Workplace The first place I worked that my mother couldn't bug me was at CBN. That was an experience. Then, there were the other odd housekeeping jobs after I got married. I worked at Bally's fitness as the female porter. That's a glorified female locker room attendant. Did housekeeping at Portsmouth General. That was an interesting experience. Became a nurses' aid when I was living in Delaware. Continued with that for about 5 years. Became a massage therapist in 1997. Being an independent contractor is an experience that just can't be beat. Looking to continue my education and change careers again at TCC by taking classes in American Sign Language. Military I wish I could say that in the Air Force Reserves that I had a good time. I can't. While in basic training my knee cap decided it wanted to go a different way that I was going, and I ended up being discharged. I was looking forward to being in the Reserves. My husband was able to continue his Reserve career and I supported him the whole way. Air Force, Aim High, WhooYa!
