Chana's Story
Life
I left Leavenworth in 1979 and moved to Long Beach, Ca. After living there for several years I moved to Phoenix, AZ where I met and married a wonderful man in 1999. With my mother gone and my father quite ill, we moved to Leavenworth on July 4th 2005 so my father could die at "home".
My husband LaMond, had never been in Kansas or lived in a small community before so coming here was a bit of a shock to him. I mean figure it out, Phoenix has almost twice the population as the entire state of Kansas has!It has been a bit of an adjustment on me as well. Being gone for 26 years then coming back has had it's own toll on me. My two dogs on the other hand have taken to Leav. very well! They love all the grass we have in our yard!
You may ask why Leavenworth is hard for me, so I'll let you know. First off, I'm disabled. I crushed my right leg in a work accident back in 1990 and have a very difficult time walking with all the hills and disrepair the roads and sidewalks are in. Second is, well to be truthful, life was hard on me as a kid here. Very few gave me a chance as I was the fat kid (so sad that kids can be so damning of others). e where I know no one. So if you see me out walking please take the time to say hello. Im still fat (now we know due to a medical condition) and walk with a profound limp usually with a cane. Or if you want stop by my house sometime. Look for the Precision Cut Lawn Services sign in my yard around 5th and Kiowa (yeah I know, it's not the best part of town but it was a place to live till we find what house we want to buy).
After my accident I decided to go back to school. In 2000 I obtained my Doctorate in Religiuos Sciences and became an ordained minister in the Messianic Faith (Jews for Jesus is Messianic). I offered ministrial counseling in Phoenix to those that were afflicted of Alcoholism and Drug addiction.
My hopes for the future: buy a house that matches LaMond and my personalities, get civicly involved in Leavenworth to make it a better place for all to live, build our business up here to where it was in Phoenix and the main one is to try to make a positive difference in the lives of those I meet.
Be safe, be happy but above all, know that GOD loves you and I do too even if you find it hard to know how someone that barely knows you or maybe doesnt know you at all could love you!
