Charlene's Story
Hi everyone! I graduated from GKSN in 1969 and joined the USAF. Went to Viet Nam which was the real calling that had led me into nursing, feeling like I could make a difference to the injured. Have spent the last 42 almost 43 years in nursing doing the same thing--- feeling like I can make a difference in the nursing profession. I have done nursing adminisration, nursing management, nursing development, etc, but have been at Moffitt Cancer Center the last 8 years being a bedside nurse and continue to love my job.
Married the love of my life in 1975 and we had two children, a girl now 31 and a son who is 28 years old. My beloved died in 1991 and I have been a single mother since then, taking care of the kids and also taking care of my mom and dad. It has been a busy tme, but now my parent...Expand for more
s are gone, my daughter is married with two healty, smart, and lovely girls who are now 8 and 10 years old. My son married a beautiful woman 2011 and so I am hoping for future grandchildren. Really, the grandchildren are so much fun and help to keep my young!
I plan to work until age 66 if possible and then retire, but I'm sure I'll do something part-time for a while after that. I've traveled a lot during the years, met many wonderful people and have made amazing friends. I have several great interests that I am sure will keep me spellbound once I have more time to pursue them.
I am off of work for a few weeks recovering from eye surgery so have time to post this note. I would love to hear from my Gordon Keller and Hillsborough High friends and would love to get together and see you all.
