Charles's Story

Hello Folks.... December 8, 2024 Guess what? I'm still alive. How about you? If you don't write and at least say "Hello," I'll figure that you're 6 feet under. I easily get depressed, so hey, make my day, wouldja? Crap, I got old. Not sure when that happened. I still think of myself as "a student." Beverly and I have been married for 51 years. She's my best friend. However, I still think about alternate scenarios involving (separately) one or more wimmen who just might be reading this. I'm not dead yet. My advice in 2017: Buy Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies. My advice in 2021 Buy Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies. My advice today, Dec 8, 2024 Buy Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies. I don't often get a response when I say stuff like that.. Be brave. I'm still working. Heck no, I don't need the money. I just like to keep going and learn new stuff. I'm a working fool. I'm also a miner, and few will understand that. I'm in good shape. I plan on staying very active and then one of these days I'll have a fatal heart attack. That's OK. I'll be all-used-up. Don't Cry For Me, Argentina. No regrets. I can still remember the faces and names of my Garretson Heights schoolmates. Perhaps every one of them. Do you remember stuff like that, too? Say "Hello." Best wishes, Charles December 8, 2024 --- We also live part-time in Orangevale, just east of Sacramento. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's yet another update. July 27, 2020. Good news. I'm still alive. How about you? I'm the youngster in our class of '63. On August 15th, I'll be 74 years old. Write a few lines to say hello, or wish me "Happy Birthday." why don'tcha? Here's another update... April, 2018. I'm still alive... You know, it wouldn't hurt for any of us to just post a sentence or two on our bio every once in a while, even if we have nothing at all to say. It's an easy way for us to say, "Hello" to anyone whose attention Classmates is able to snag. My wife and I are bucking the trend and actually working at moving "back to California." I personally do not at all want to move, and especially not back to California, but my wife has been an absolute saint in putting up with me for so many years and she deserves to have lots of joy. The magnetism of grandchildren wins out. I see us living in the Sacramento area soon. We've achieved rather odd milestones such as giving away our huge flock of chickens, and selling off almost all of our sheep. (For now, we are keeping "Lucky Laptop," the orphaned lamb who lived in our house with us. What's not to love about a baby anything that sits on your lap, or upon your laptop on your lap, and watches television with you?) Oh, and I'm into crypto-currencies. Yeah, I know what you're thinking. It's crazy, but it helps keep me going strong. In some ways it's not different than playing solitaire or chess, or working crossword puzzles. It's the challenge that draws me in. Here's an update (right at the top) as of July, 2017. At least you know that I'm still here. My wife and I have lived in Oregon for 17 years. We have expanded our menagerie to include dozens of ducks and a herd of very cool sheep. "And why not," I say? We do have a farm and a vineyard. My hobby supplies distribution business is still very active and as part of that I frequently drive a big truc...Expand for more
k north to Seattle and south to Santa Cruz to make deliveries. CLASSMATES WON'T ALLOW ME TO INCLUDE A LINK AS TO WHAT I AM DOING NOW, SO YOU'LL NEED TO WRITE OR CALL TO GET THAT INFORMATION. WARNING: IT'S A HIGH TECH KIND OF THING. IF YOU CAN DO TECHIE STUFF, ASK ME. I like to make a lot of money. It's just an ongoing challenge for me. I don't spend big or flaunt it. I like to work crossword puzzles and find creative ways to do business and to invest. Although I attended our 50th reunion, I didn't get a chance to visit as much as I wanted, because I had to rush off to a wedding in the family. I'm hoping that we 1963-ers will be invited to tag along with reunions from other years so that I have a chance to see some of the older guys who were positive influences for me-- including Restee Williams, Bill Hess, and Mario Ferreira. And if those guys aren't around any more, well, they are not forgotten. -------------------------------------- Hmmm... My bio. ... I usually don't think about this stuff, so this is an interesting exercise for me. The idea here is to give you some insight as to who I am and what I'm up to these days. I'm interested in quite a few things. And it's quite nice to have a slightly failing memory, because I get to have the excitement of learning the same things over and over.... With a partner in Hong Kong, I was owner of a plastic bag factory in China, 1980-2005. (I'm an entrepreneur.) I sell wholesale hobby supplies by shipping out and by truck delivery. (I'm a shipping clerk and a truck driver.) We own and live on a vineyard in Central Point, OR. We have plenty of horses, chickens and dogs. (I'm a farmer and a chicken-rancher.) I've been married for practically forever to the most wonderful wife I could ever imagine. (I'm a good husband and dad.) I don't do drugs, tobacco, or alcohol. Well, an occasional sip of wine is wonderful. (I'm straight-arrow, but I still laugh a lot.) I'm a student of the financial and commodities markets and could, if begged, bore you with subjects such as precious metals, base metals, mining and reclamation, interest rates and inflation, foreign trade, stock market investments in various currencies/ countries, weather trends and their implications for the U.S. east and west coasts. (I'm a student, a numbers geek who doesn't like desk work, a futurist, a worrier, and a creative thinker.) However, words don't come fast to me; I am not verbally articulate. I dream of being a wordsmith, a writer, a lecturer, but I fall far short. (I'm a realist.) I'm in excellent health and I've always done a huge amount of physical work. (I eat and work healthy, but I'm not exactly a health nut.) I'm not as smart as some folks, so I compensate by working longer hours. (I am on occasion self-denigrating.) I expect that I might be interested in retiring when I'm 95, although right this moment I can't think of why that would be. (I like clean, honest work, and am not money-driven. I have a sufficiency, and am most comfortable in worn-out clothes. (I look like the guy who mows your lawn.) If you've read this far, well, you're probably the only one in that category... and I would love for you to call and say hello. I guarantee that I have thought about you. My listed phone number is in Medford, OR. If I list the phone number here, or if I write the email address properly, this site will not allow this message to be published chasabarr at aol.com.
