Charles's Story
When I finished school I went into managemet training with Kuhn' Big K stores. I had worked as stockman for 2 years after school and on Saterdays my last 2 years of Hight School. Every thing was going great till I got a letter from uncle Sam I was in the army now as of 04-07-1968 went basic training at Fort Bragg NC. 8 weeks and then got sent to Fort Gordon GA. Military Police School for 8 weeks. Got to go home 21 days after. Then off to Calf. to hoop the big bird to Veit-Nam.I was with 101st, Airborn unit outside of Hou' South Veit-Nam this was 350 miles north of Sigon about 50 miles from D.M.Z. we saw alot. Got to spend time in hospital in Japan 65 days. Got out of Nam about 50 days early to bring Edwen Sholars body back to his Family and wife. Remember Linda she was in hour class and his wife Joyce Barns she was also in hour class. I left Nam on 06-15-1969 at 11:30 P.M. and got back to the states at 7:00 A.M. 06-15-1969 so I had 2 -21 brithdays. My brithday was 06-15-1948. Well I came back stayed at Fort Campbell my last 8 months of army life came out 04-07-1970 went back with Big K stores and stayed till 1980 that was when Wal-mart took them over. Left them moved back to Leoma Tn. thats 95 miles south of Nashville, thats where my wife was from we got marryed in 1972. Well I went with Wal-mart after a lot of thinking. with Wal-mart untill 1993 I retired out of retail after 26 years.Stayed home about 7 months could not stand it so I went back to work with Jones New York Inc.out of Bristol Pa.we shipped ladys fashions world wide. I was superviser with them for little over 17 years. They was going to do away with 1 supervise job out of 25 so other could keep there jobs I was old enought I could retire and go to the house with money in my pockets. So I did not saying I will stay retired. Threrd time is charm.
Well this comming Nov. 04-2012 My wife and I will have been marred 40 years we have 2 kids. A son thats 35 and Doughter that is 29, My son has 2 kids so that makes me a grandfather ant that something. I never though that could happen, you remimber how much I ran a round in High School never.
It has been a long time but also it has gone by in a flash.
I was thanking one day about the class. I remember your mother passing away when you was young. I talk to Kathy R. back in 1999 when my mother passed away. We were selling the home place my sister and I. I only get back about twice a year to put flowers mon Mom's and Grandparent graves. God has been good to me over the years. Comming from family with no dad to have grandkids you learn a lot in a short time.
I will keep you and your Family in my parys each night. I miss all the Kids we once was but would not go back for the world. Drop a line when you get a chance.
