Charles's Story
Life
I've been married for eleven years now to Kimberly, my soulmate and the most wonderful woman. We'd moved out to Montgomery (south of Aurora) about nine years ago. Since we married, we were trying to start our family. Easter of last year (after my wife's spine surgery rehab ended), we discovered our miracle baby was on the way. Noelle Julianna was our little Christmas-time miracle in December. After about three months of colic, our little girl smiled, the clouds parted and we have the happy baby you see in the photos.
For the record, about pets we have three cats, who knew I'd like cats? I'm still into movies and working with my hands, I've restored and modified furniture, installed built-ins in our house. Still the bargain shopper, some of you may have seen me at your garage sales up until about ten years ago (Hi Dina and Kelly).
Still friends with Mike, Stan, and Andy (I guess that would make me the fourth horseman of the apocalypse).
Career (my job) is currently in a holding pattern (and running low on fuel).
With Kimberly, for the last eleven years, I've been writing science fiction and developing our own comic book company (we had to wait for technology to catch up to my ambitions, now just waiting until Noelle can walk to finish the development and roll out the first issue (we only have about seven years worth of stories either wr...Expand for more
itten or conceptualized).
School
Well everyone remembers the beard, yes it remains, but trimmed into a goatee now (Kim thinks it's sexy).
I remember having many great teachers. The ones who stand out were the ones who also had humor and taught that there is more to life than what is in a textbook.
Mr. Jeske who's lessons also were tempered with bad humor (aka "The Jeske Joke").
Mr. Tantillo who taught that we should look under the spin on the surface to try to find the truth.
Workplace
My first "real" job was working at Softsel (which became Merisel) in their warehouse. I worked my way up to Warehouse Lead Person within a year and promoted to Inventory Control (a warehouse supervisory position) the next. By the time I left I had been Inventory Control department's manager for over two years. From there I worked in Purchasing at Burrows Company in Wheeling (Planning Purchasing and ordering Medical supplies).
Next I spent a little over two and a half years at a great company First Security Systems in Naperville doing Purchasing and Inventory Management until the economy post 911 led to my layoff (last hired..). After a few months of temp work, I wound up at Leviton as Inventory Control Second and Third Shift Manager. The economy took another toll as a third of the employees there including managment got the axe. Which leads me to where I work now.
