Charles J.'s Story
Life
I spent the early years of my life in Star City, WV. I attended Star City Elememtary '49 to '55,Suncrest Flatts Jr High '56-'58,then to Morgantown High. In 1960 we moved from the Morgantown area in my Junior year. I attended Lost Creek High School for my junior year. and when Mom & Dad moved again, my move was to the military. After three years active duty stationed in Fort Knox Ky. for basic and Fort Cambbell Ky. I married a girl I met at LCHS and setteled in Morgantown, where we raised 1 son and 1 daughter. I currently am rertired and have 5 Grand children and 8 Great grand children (expecting a great grand Daughter in May). We are planning on doing a lot of traveling during our retirement starting in the near future.
My wife and I are missionaries to Uganda and have made 3 trips there. We have brought the Ugandan Thunder Childrens Choir to Morgantown area for 2 years now and have them scheduled again for Sep30 thru Oct 5th, 2017. We are currently working on a benefit to raise monies to have a water well put in for Shalom Children's Academy in Mbale, Uganda. cost of the well between $9,000 and $10,000.
I am proud to announce that we have passed the $8,000.00 mark and have 4 performances this month.

I am very pleased to say thank you to the good Lord for sending me...Expand for more
the people I needed to reach our goal, we have not only reached our goal but surpassed it. I sent the $10,000 on to Uganda to drill the well and have also raised the moneys to put a roof on their new Dormitory. Our next project in planning, is to help with the completion of Dalton's Baby orphanage in Lugazi Uganda. The glory goes back to God and many thanks to all who have contributed.
Our 2017 benefit was very successful. We were not only blessed with the finances to have a water well put in, but also raised over $17,000.00 and had a roof put on the new dormitory at Shelom Childrens Academy in Mbale, Uganda. We are gearing up for 2018 where we hope to help Dalton Opala complete his Baby Orphanage.
In the year 2019 our benefit group was able to purchase 2 acres of land to be used by Pastor Cyrus Baptist Church to raise food for the children. We have paid medical bills for 10 year old Phydha (FIDA) who had polio. She suffered an infected femur. the infection has been cleared up and the femur repaired. We also paid medical expenses for 17 year old Emmanuel who suffered a broken tibula and anon repairable knee injury. Emmanuel chose to have his knee fused. Both children are doing fine. we are currently feeding 2 families and helping 1 orphanage with food during this pandemic.
