Charles's Story
Life
After graduation I enlisted in the US Navy. Served on board USS Kitty Hawk (CVA 63) in the Tonkin Gulf. After separation from active duty I enlisted in the Naval reserve, continueing until retiring in May94. Married and divorced twice I have 6 children (5 boys 1 girl). Christopher 35, Donald 34, Eric deceased, Jennifer 31, Aaron 26, Daniel 17. Daniel lives in Dallas with his mother. The rest of them live in Wichita and have Families ...Expand for more
of their own. I have 8 granddaughters' and 9 grandsons' I'm also retired from the Teamsters Union. I have heart trouble and am living at the Kansas Veterans home in Winfield Ks.
I taking courses with the Veterans Upward bound program, through Wichita State. Creative writing is one of my courses. I finished as a semi finalist in a picture essay contest. Have not heard how the National judging went. That was 2009. I entered again for 2010.
