Charles's Story
Following graduation from SLHS, I attended Buena Vista College -- graduating from there in 1967. I then attended the College of Law at the Univesity of Iowa for one year. Responding to a call to the ministry, I attended Dubuque Theological Seminary -- graduating with the class of 1972. Over the next 19 1/2 years, I served churches in
Illinois, Iowa and Nebraska. While in Nebraska, I had the opportunity to teach religion and philosophy at a junior
college.
For the past 20 years, I have worked for an automobile dealership in Moline, Illinois. My primary responsibilities are customer relations and warranty administration. I am of retirement age (on Medicare, believe it or not!), but see no
reason not to keep working.
My health has been fair to good. I had a mild heart attack six years ago, and recently had a pacemaker implanted.

y pretty active, but have had to slow down some.
I am still married to Patti. We are looking forward to our 38th anniversary this October. We have two children:
Phil, 36, who lives in Davenport with his wife and three children; Elizabeth, 34, who lives here in Rock Island with her daughter.
My mother, Pheraby, is still alive and kicking at 86. My dad, Wendell, died several years ago.
I've only gotten back to Storm Lake twice in recent years. Can't get over how much the place has grown! I always said there'd be a school some day in Angier's pasture (out on West Fifth), and now there are two!
I have a lot of fond memories of my home town. It was a good place in which to grow up. Hopefully, I'll
be able to make the 50th reunion of my high school class next year.
