Charles's Story
Here it is May 2011. Did the Annual Cruise to Mexico in February. Took my Aunt Virginia(90 yrs) she became ill in Mazatlan and and the ship doctor then denied her reboarding in Puerto Vallarta after she went to the Dr. there. I got off the ship with her since I had lived in Vallarta and know it well. Norwegian Cruise line was not nice. Didn't page me till 20 minutes before departure and gave me 5 minutes to get my Passport/Wallet & a change of underware and get off the ship with her. We went to the Fiesta that night at the Hacienda, caught a flight the next day back to LAX and then waited 2 1/2 days till the ship got back to San Pedro/Long Beach to collect out luggage. Aunt Gin is fine and Norwegian has to this time made no concession. I've done a half dozen Cruise's with them too. This was the 3rd or 4th time on the Norwegian Starr. They have really slipped in food, service & personnel. Planns for the summer are pick up a new Land rover on the east coast and take it through New England and back to California. A visit to Mom's in Washington State. I canceled the Cruise to Alaska with Norwegian obviously, may do it with Carnival or Celebrity. A trip to Ireland and then Europe before the summer ends. Booked the Alaskan Cruise on a Wednesday, left for Seattle on a Thursday and Boarded the ship on Friday in Seattle for a 7 days. Celebrity Infinity, great ship and the food was terrific. Scenery was nice but Ketchican & Skagway are mostly East Indian jewlery stores. Got home on the 4th of July after visiting Mom and Brother in Washington State and by way of Crater Lake in Oregon. Packed up again and now in Kansas. Going to Alumni day in Brookfield and then next Wednesday the 20th flying in to Boston for a trip through New England. It's been a fast summer. ..........EXCITING SUMMER. 2011~ Barely got back from Alaska other that to change suit cases and start out for the Midwest. Visited with Family ...Expand for more
and then went to the Alumni Celebration in Brookfield and got to visit with a few old friends. Then went down to Branson and saw Noah at a show and did the Riverboat Cruise. Got on a plane for Boston and went on to Niagra Falls, Montreal, Toronto, Quebec and then over to Maine and drove down the Coast to Cape Cod and back to Boston to do the Historic Walk(2 1/2 miiles) and climbed to the top of the Bunker Hill Monument. 296 Steps. Then back to K.C. to pick up the Vette and drove back through the Rockys to Vegas. Got back just a couple days before Joann had to get back to work for the School. Long trip but a lot of fun! HERE IS AN END TO ANOTHER YEAR DEC 2011~WISH ALL A MERRY CHRISTMAS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~2012/March-A few short trips this Spring. Took the new Vette down to Glendale, out of LA. to visit my cousin a Hair dresser and have Joann's hair done. Joann drove all the way. Wouldn't let me drive though. Lol! Looking forward to summer and travel. Any suggestions? Hope everyones new year is going great. Sad to hear we have lost some Classmate. JAN/2013~Another year and lots of Changes. Bought another house in Modesto with a nice pool and spa. Lots of work and clean-up and painting. Older home but a one story in a very nice neighborhood. Hope to do a transatlantic Cruise this spring instead of the annual Mexican Cruise and then off to Ireland/Scotland I hope in April. With the new house it may have to wait till summer. Still would like to make it again this year to Alumni Days in July. Hope everyone is haveing a great New Year! JULY 2013~Had a great time visiting with Classmates & Friends in Brookfield. Went to the Alumni Dinner and dance at the Elks. Didn't get to visit with my brother and other friends in Kansas City. Had to leave at race home to California for and emergency.
