Charline's Story
Life
I should have shared this news sooner. My 2 brothers John and Ralph and myself found and reunited with our real father in the year 2000. My brothers and I hadn't seen or heard from our real father since our mother brought us to the mainland from Hawaii in 1961. I found him in 1974, but I was not able to visit him due to finances as a single mother. I loss contact with him when he went for a double bipass surgery on his heart, while I was moving to Temecula to get married and settle down to my past husband. I was hurt that I wrote to him and my letters were not returned or answered. I was able to find him with the help of my daughter and a detective in Hawaii, who read my plea for help on one of the Alumni or classmates websites. I posted a plea for help in hopes that one of his step daughters or grand children would read it and recognise my last name to there father or grandfather and contact me. After I contacted him and his wife, my brothers and I planned a trip to Hawaii together and flew to Hawaii to meet him and his family in May of 2000. He married a wonderful woman with five girls. They were all so wonderful to us. We learned that we had so much to share with each other about our past. My father was in good hands. His daughters showed us around the Island of spots that they hoped we would reme...Expand for more
mber from our childhood. It was so wonderful to see everything again and meet our new family members. I wish I had money to visit my real father for a week every year until he dies or I die. I know this is not possible, because the plane fair and hotel cost is too expensive for my budget as a single woman. We are all planning another trip together, to visit him again soon. Hopefully before he dies. I am in the process of making an album of our past childhood to our current lives, to give to him, because he missed our growing up years. It is so time consuming, since I don't have all the proper equipment and programs to complete it sooner. He is 75 years old and with God's help we will all be able to finance our trip to see him soon. We were able to meet his wife before she died that following November. I encourage everyone who is missing a parent from there lives to find them. We all thought our real father didn't want us anymore and that he didn't love us anymore. The tears that came from his eyes showed me that he did love us all thoses years that we were apart. He was so happy to see us. It had been 39 years since we had seen him. His daughter told us that she could see that he was missing something in his life and now he is fullfilled again. Thank you for letting me share this story with you all.
