Charlotte's Story
Hi everyone, I am Charlotte (Gibson) Mathis. I attended Everett Rea Junior High school in Costa mesa 1954-55, and Newport Harbor High School 1955-1959. In 1960 I attended Orange Coast College and the following year drove off with a group of kids from our church (1st Baptist Costa Mesa) to Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo. I graduated in 1963 with a degree in Christian Education.
In 1964 I married Ron Mathis and we have been married 45 years. We have four married children, Melanie, Stephen, David and Michael who all live near us. They have blessed us with 14 grandchildren (13 of whom are boys!) They range in age from 2 months to 19 years. We homeschooled our kids for 13 years and now some of our grandchildren are being homeshooled.
We have always been involved in church. For many years I had a singing ministry and taught children, teens and women's classes. I now write a devotional blog called THE GOD WHO SEES ME - A Devotional Prayer Journal.

I am looking forward to the 50th reunion so thought it would by fun to become reaquainted through Classmates. We all have changed so much I hope lots of you will post your "then" picture as well as "now." I have posted some old photo memories I hope you will enjoy. It won't be long until our 50th reunion! Can you believe it?
Well, the 50 year class reunion has come and gone and we had a great time. I got around to quite a few of the tables and was surprised at how many people I remembered, at least as soon as I saw the name tags. We had a huge class so it is amazing that I knew a lot of you who were there.
Sadly we were told that this is the last major reunion the committee is planning, so I really wish I had gone to some of the earlier ones. The only other one was the 40 year reunion. I was out of the loop for those early ones - busy building a family I guess, or off in Rolla Missouri where Ron went to graduate school to get a Phd in Physics.
Perhaps the women will continue to have luncheons each year so I hope I will be able to attend.
