Cheri's Story
EDUCATION AND CAREER
In earlier years I worked in such diverse fields as saddlemaking, showed and trained show horses and coached competitive riders, worked as a cake decorator and as an administrative assistant in industry, insurance and education fields.
The degree acquired later in life, in digital graphic design, is now used to enhance my own business and for pleasure.
I spent some time in the field of alternative medicine, and enjoyed working for myself so much that it's become a way of life. I don't want to retire!
Over time it became apparent to me that most of my clients wanted ME to fix THEM -- they weren't willing to make sufficient changes in order to heal themselves!
That lead me out of alternative medicine and into life coaching. It's about a lot of listening and sometimes helping people make difficult decisions. Working from home might not be everyone's cup of tea, however I enjoy it.
FAMILY
My family returned to the "family hub" in the Northwest, in the late sixties. Nearly all of our relatives have now passed on to their reward, however it was great to have them in our lives after so many years living in "exile" in California, away from the rest of the family.
PETS
Our pets just don't live long enough life spans to suit me! It's so hard when beloved pets come to the end of the time in their bodies! At present I have my first small dogs: a brother and sister Pomeranian who are orange and white balls of poofy puffball fur. Unlike some Poms, they are not snappish at all, and their super-friendly personalities win friends easily.
There is also a rescued grey short-haired cat who was dumped by neighbors when they moved away (poor kitty). She's a 'touch-me-not' ty...Expand for more
pe - very independent for the most part. She's been assured of a permanent home here, regardless of her personality, for as long as she wants to be here. She has acquired a half-Ragdoll kitten to be a buddy for her. He's a hilarious whirling dervish of fuzzy black baby fur and sparkling gold eyes.
The last pet, if you can call him that, is Albert, a 9" and growing, reclusive Chinese Algae Eater (an oxymoron, as he is actually from Thailand). He has large golden eyes which can swivel and blink, and is fond of perching on his pectoral fins on the bottom of the tank, in the shelter of a large rock.
HOBBIES
Hobbies include spinning wool into yarn, knitting socks both by hand and with a knitting machine, designing and sewing clothing, graphic design projects, painting, cooking, collecting and reading books, intelligent conversation with friends, and pursuit of an increase in personal growth.
I have spun dog, cat and rabbit fur, among other varied fibres and made a pair of warm gloves from that combo last year (no, they don't stink when they get wet - grin).
Other past times include cooking with healthy, organic ingredients (and the occasional sinfully delicious dessert thrown in - slurp!), reading, writing, computers, knitting, weaving, creating patterns (for anything which is needed at the time) home decorating, gardening and am now a committed member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Surprise! I was not a "Mormon" when in high school. That came later (I realize that some may view it as a fine line between committed (weaving baskets in an institution) and committed (devout) -- giggle). No worries...balance is a valuable attribute which one must continually pursue.
