Cheryl's Story
Went to work for National Linen Co. in Buffalo right after graduation. Married in Feb. 1966 and moved to Virginia and then the west coast. Had 2 children while out there and divorced. Met my present husband who is retired Navy. We'll be married 39 years in Aug. Had 2 additional children , 2 boys and 2 girls total. One daughter and son live in the Charleston ,SC area near us. Another daughter lives in Al. and our oldest son lives in upstate SC. We have two granddaughters and one grandson. Unfortunately granddaughter and grandson live in Al. and it is to far away for many visits. Other granddaughter lives 5 miles from us and we see her alot.
Being married to a Navy man , we traveled a good bit. Met and married in Ca., moved to MI. and then to SC, off to Pa., back to SC and then retirement. After retiring we moved to Jacksonville , Fl for 10 years. Moved back to SC 5 years ago for good.
Jim still works part time but from home with some traveling. Frees us up to travel as much as we want. Hard to find us at home some months. With Jim being in the Navy ...Expand for more
and gone more than home , I started my own business sewing for people. Good way to make money with your hours and own time involved. Not doing so much anymore as I'm always off somewhere.
We love living down here. Usually have mild winters and a long boating season. We spend a lot of time on our pontoon boat doing nothing. Can't say that we miss the cold or snow. I never want to pick up a snow shovel again. Did enough of that as a kid. We did have 6 inches the Feb. but it is so rare. Life is good for us . If any of you ever get down this way give me a call.
Life has changed for me since April. My husband suffered from Mesothelioma for 2 1/2 years. Contracted it in the Navy working in engineneering spaces. 2017 has not been a kind year for him or us. He suffered a saddlebag embolism in both lungs in March. In April he fell and shattered his spine. Nothing could be done for that.. Think he was just tired of fighting after all this time and passed on April 20. Life is certainly different being single again. We had been together for 48 years.
