Cheryl's Story
Life
Hey everyone!! I am back in Ingersoll! I never thought I would move back here!
After high school, I went to Huron College at UWO and got my degree in French and English. I then went to Lakehead University in Thunder Bay for teacher's college.
I started teaching in Cambridge, and stayed at that school for two years. I met David through a mutual friend at Oktoberfest. We were married in 1995. We lived in Pickering, Scarborough, Whitby and finally, in Brooklin. I taught with the Durham board. I taught everything from Kindergarten to Grade 8. I was a Core French teacher most of my career, with other things thrown in.
In 2003, David left, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and my Mom was diagnosed with bone cancer, ...Expand for more
all within a 12 day period. I quit teaching at March break, and moved home to be with Mom. I am now on permanent disability, and will never return to teaching, and probably not even to the workforce.
I have since bought a cute little 1-1/2 storey house in Ingersoll, met a wonderful man, and become a step-mom to three great boys (ages 10, 12, and 13).
I was an avid biker, sailor, scuba diver, and volleyball player. I have had to give those things up, but I have replaced them with other things, like needlework, scrapbooking and volunteer work.
I have run into quite a few people from our class, and stayed in contact with some others. I would love to hear from you. Should we be thinking of a 25-year reunion?
Take care,
Cheryl
