Cheryl's Story
I'm origanally Cheryl Hogan. I came to Detroit at the age of 12 from my home town of Nashville Tennessee. I grew up on Rohns and Warren. My best friend was and still is Janet Clemons. I attended McGregor elementary, Barbour Jr. High and Kettering Sr. High School. I graduated from Detroit Job Corps May 1977. I got married at the age of 20 and I'm still with the same man after 30 years. I have 4 grown children and 4 grandchildren. I love to travel. I have been on a couple of cruises and really enjoy flying. All of my old friends would think that I was the silent shy one. Not anymore I grew up fast and learned how to stand up for myself. alize that you can not make grown folks do nothing they dont want to do!!!! And also remember that loose lips sank ships. Life dealt us a all a hand, it's all about choisest and attitude that makes us stand. My family and I had the oppportunity to live in Fenton, MO back in 1984. We stayed for 2 years and was the only african american family in the community. Those people did not want us there but they looked out for us and kept us safe. I truly learned a life experience from them. I wanted to stay but my husband wanted to leave. I've been currently living back in Detroit every since. All my siblings currently live in Nashville, Tennessee where I visit very regularly.
