Cheryl's Story
Life
I went to Auburn University for a year after graduating and then moved to Chattanooga TN with my parents. I met my husband to be in 1990 and have been happily married since 1991. Joey and I went to Hiwassee College from 91-92 and then went to Lee College (now Lee University) in Cleveland, TN. We graduated in 1995. Joey graduated from Emory University with a Masters of Divinity in 1998. Joey is the pastor Piney Flats United Methodist church (which is 7 miles from the Bristol Motorspeedway) in the Holston Conference. We have 6 children which we have become part of our family through adoption. Our oldest daughter (Marlana) is soon to be 23, in her final 2 years of her Nursing degree and getting married in November. Melissa is 21 and even mentally challenged had been in a progam the last 6 months to learn job skills and living skills and is doing wonderful!! Sarah is 9 and in the 3rd grade, Joey, Jr is 8 and in the 2nd grade, Lydia is 7 and in the 1st grade and Joshua is 6 and in kindergarten. We adopted the...Expand for more
first 2 girls 10 years ago. Two years we decided that it was time to do it again. So we went the foster to adopt route this time. We didn't plan to take 4 kids but it has happened that way. The 4 little ones are siblings and our adoption was finalized in February 2009. It is really been a change and I am now a stay at home mom but loving every minute of it. I am also a Close To My Heart Independent Consultant so if you need to know anything about scrapbooking let me know. I also do a lot of volunteering at the kids school, church and with a local Women's Shelter. We have a zoo - 5 dogs (all chihuahuas) and 4 cats.
College
I started out at Auburn University in the fall of 1987. During my freshman year my parents moved to Chattanooga TN. So after my freshman year I went to Chattanooga to live and take some time off. I went back to school after getting married in 1991 - first attending Hiwassee Collage in Madisonville TN and then went on to Lee College (now Lee University) to complete my BS degree in Accounting.
