Cheryl's Story
Hello,
If you still live anywhere near the New Holstein area, you probably know what I've been up to. For those of you who haven't come back here to raise your kids in a small town, I'll fill you in. After high school, I got my bachelor's degree in animal biology from UW-Madison. I then went on to Optometry school at Indiana University. I got my docorate in 1992. I then moved to Sheboygan and worked with an ophthalmologist there for 12 years. In 2004, I began private practice by buying the optometry practice of Dr. Brian Hammes in New Holstein. In 2005, I opened another practice - Visionary Eye Care - in downtown Sheboygan. In 2006, I bought the practice of Dr. Joe Schlaefer on Main St. in Chilton. In 2007, I bought the practice of Dr. J.P. Guenveur on Fremont Street in Kiel. If you're counting, that's 4 practices in 4 years. It's a lot of work, so it'...Expand for more
s a good thing I love what I do! I have two other doctors working with me - Dr. David Vanderloop and Dr. Jennifer Martin. They are both wonderful doctors and a big help to me.
I live in Kiel with my husband Brian, daughter, Elise, who is 11 and in 7th grade and son, Steven, who is 7 and in 3rd grade. We fell in love with a big, old house in Kiel and moved in 8 years ago, just before Steven was born. We call it our forever house because we're never moving again. Having lived, worked and attended conventions in some bigger cities over the years, we know how good we have it in our friendly, small town. Big cities are fun to visit, but it's always great to come home again. I've seen some of you as patients and/or around town, so I know that you must feel the same way.
I can't believe that we've been out of high school for over 24 years! How did we get so old?
