Betty's Story
Life
- Moved from Coquitlam to the Queen Charlotte Islands in 1989. Wouldn't move back for the world!
- Married in 1981 to my sweetie, Greg.
- We have 2 daughters, 1 grandson & 1 grandaughter
- Greg has worked for the Highways Maintenance Contractor since 1989. I am a self-employed Graphics Designer.
- In my spare time, I like to garden, take walks on the beach (I have a huge collection of "leave-r-right" rocks, shells & driftwood). I also enjoy genealogy research, and, of course, spending time with my grandchildren. I still love to dance and indulge in a few cocktails.
- My dream is to locate and restore another 1967 Mustang Fastback GT390. Had one once but had to sell it. If anyone knows where to locate one of these in restorable condition drop us a line. Our Bronco has given us 12 excellent years of highway & off-road driving - driving on the beach and on the backroads is a blast!
In May, 2007, my hubby was diagnosed with Stage 3 Rectal Cancer. Since then, he has undergone radiation, chemotherapy and surgery. An 8-inch cancerous tumour was removed and so far (fingers crossed) the cancer hasn't metasticized to other organs. Greg is on the final round of chemo (April 2008) and once f...Expand for more
inished, he will need one more surgery to reverse the temporary ileostomy he now has as a result of the surgery. I've been with Greg every step of the way and know he will make a full recovery and we are both looking forward to living a normal life again.
- Favorite Memories & Teachers at Centennial Sr. Sec. - Foods Class in the Cafeteria with Mr. Skitch; Auto Mechanics with Mr. Elliott (the amount of brazing rods used on his truck to fix the rust should have increased the life expectancy of the truck body by another 50 years!) I still love to "twist wrenches" in my spare time. I also recall certain persons who to this day shall remain unnamed decided to borrow a bunch of real estate signs from around the area and place them on the school grounds. I seem to recall a bunch of crosses on the grounds too. I believe the principal requested that the person or person(s) responsible for placing an ad in the newspaper advertising the school for sale should report to the office.
- The Song "Spirit in the Sky" always brings back memories of Friday night ice skating at the Coquitlam Rec. Center.
- I also remember going to a Trooper concert at the Rec Center (before they were actually Trooper).
