Cheryl's Story
Life
Well, it's been a long time since graduation and I have done and seen a lot since then.
My first job was at Cunningham Drugs at 7 Mile and VanDyke. How many of you remember Cunninghams? I attended college for a while and signed up for a computer class that was way over my head. What was I thinking? So,I decided to go to Florida instead. After I got that out of my system, I went back to college part-time while working full time in the banking and insurance industries. My two interests were in law and broadcasting. Since I couldn't afford the broadcasting degree, I decided to be a legal assistant when I grew up as I like working with and helping people.
After obtaining a degree from college, I decided to take another break and travel. I've been from one side of the lower forty-eight to the other, California to Maine. I have traveled to Sturgis, South Dakota for five summers for the big rally in August. Lot's of people watching there. Great fun. I'm thinking about taking riding lessons in the spring and buying my own Harley. What do you think?
Hockey is back! I am a member of the Red Wing For'em Club and have traveled to see many hockey games in different states. I have been to five conventions hosted by the National Hockey League Booster Clubs (NHLBC), one i...Expand for more
n California, one in Vancouver, BC, two in Toronto and one in Philadelphia. In 2004 the For'em Club hosted the convention in Toronto and we had a private party at the Hockey Hall of Fame on Friday night. I even went to Alaska with some club members after the convention in Vancouver in 1996. What beautiful country! I have met a lot of people and had great fun.
I am also into lighthouses, so I guess Michigan is a good spot for me! Naturally I am a member of the Great Lakes Lighthouse Keepers Association (GLLKA). For the last two years my sister and I have volunteered a weekend at the Cheboygan Range Light.
Needless to say I have yet to return to college to continue on to my bachelors degree but probably don't have far to go as I have two associates degress. But, what can I say, life is short!
P.S. If you missed the 30 year reunion, it was a blast! Amazing how peeps have change over the last ten years. It was hard to recognize some people, mostly the guys, but it was good to see a few new faces.
I recently mooved back to the "east side" of town so if you planning on visiting the Nautical Mile in SCS, drop me a line, I might be able to joing you for a little fun and conversation.
Okay one more note. Who would have ever thought we would be 50? OMG, what a hoot!
