Chris's Story
Life
I am married to Kelley Weilhammer, 14 years now, and we have three children: Ashley, Kyle and Jake. We live in Kokomo, Indiana.
Ashley is 17 years old and lives in Delphi with her Mom, Stepdad and brother. Ashley is a Junior at Delphi High School. She is an Honor Studentand sings in the Entertainers singing group - a group similar to the Golden Throats at TL. Ashley is very mature - the kind of daughter every dad would appreciate. ashley decided not to cheer this year so she can spend time with friends and maintain her grades. I thought she would regret the decision, but so far seems ok with it.
Kyle is 14 years old and lives at home with Kelley, Jake and me. Kyle is in 8th grade at Northwestern Middle School. Kyle is a good student and enjoys music and sports. Kyle is learning to play the guitar and drums. Kyle has played football, basketball and baseball up until this year. His intersts are changing towards wakeboarding and snowboarding as of late - he still plays football in the fall. Kyle is a cool kid with tons of friends. He is the kind of kid that can do anything he tries. Kyle has his own rock called LOL. The band is the house band for his middle school.
Jake is 11 years old and in the 5th grade at Northwestern Elementary. He is a good student and plays all of the sports - he likes football best. Jake is a real charmer and always has a grin on his face - kinda like Kelley in HS. Jake also has many friends and gets lots of phone calls from the girlies. Jake is a blast and won't back down from anything. Jake plays the drums, wakeboards and snowboards. Jake is very competitive with Kyle and tries to do every thing Kyle does. He's a great kid and ton of fun.
Kelley is a stay at home mom now, but has worked off and on over the years. She has worked in auto slaes, insurance sales, and photography just to mention a few. She is very sharp and can learn anything easily - she just doesn't get chalenged much. The boys both take after her alot! In fact they look quite a bit like her. Kelley has grown to be a very giving person over the years. She volunteers at school, cuts hair for free, and locates parents of adopted kids for fun. Kelley has been good for me too. She has helped bring me out of my shell and challenged me in many ways. Kelley is mostly quiet, but the driving force behind our family. No, she doesn't wear the pants - well maybe!?!
As far as I am concerned, I mostly work at trying to get time away from work. I enjoy hanging with the kids and learning about being a dad - it is kind of a learn as you go gig. Kelley tought me to snowski a few years ago and I still like to waterski. I play the guitar and drums but, not too seriously. I like working on projects around the house. I enjoy getting togehter with friends and family. I am definitely not real quiet and try not to get too serious. I love vacations with the kids - skiing around Christmas, beaches during Spring Break and the lake in the summer.
Kelley and Melody Brown are still very good friends. They hang out tohether quite alot. They went to Cancun together in November. Other than Mel, we see very few fol...Expand for more
ks from High School. I talk to Bill Geisler and Jeff Cade once in a while. I have often wondered how Jeff Spoor, Alan Pile and others are doing. It has been years since we have seen most of you. I often wonder how life is going for many of you and hope it is all good.
Don't be a staranger - send me an email if you get the chance. I would love to hear from you.
School
My favorite moments in HS were the plays - Camelot the most. There is something about dressing up in tights and prancing around in front of thousands of people that makes a young man feel FREE. Weaver and Dewey were great! Stage crew was awesome. Parties were a blast.
I always enjoyed the football seasons and basketball seasons. I was never much of an athlete but enjoyed the school spirit - float building, dances, & homecoming courts. Junior year was cool at basketball Home Coming - I was somehow voted Junior Prince. I still don't know who stacked the ballots, but thanks.
I loved working on my old gold and black VW Bettle - that thing was a pile, but I had a ton of fun in it. I remember push starting the Bug on dates occasionally because it would not start and frezing my butt off trying to keep it running in the winter - VW's have horrible heating systems. Sliding around on the ice was cool with Bill G. on the way to Golden Throats Concerts - we are lucky to be alive. What a great first car - not too fast, not much room for messin' around, and it did not run worth a crap. But, it was a great car!
Other great moments in HS include: swimming across lake Freeman with Jeff C. for the first time, jumping off of Tioga in between All Star baseball tournament games, riding the subways on the south side of Chicago with Johnny H. and Jeff C., going to the haunted house on Patton road with an awesome bunch of friends (I think Steve Altman bought that place and has it looking pretty darn good now by the way), and many more.
