th and fifth grade Sunday School for 20 years. My husband and I celebrated our 28th wedding anniv. last summer. Where has the time gone? 2009 What I have learned from working different jobs: 1. Listen twice as much as you talk. 2. Don't give suggestions or advice unless asked to do so. (Especially in meetings) 3. Not everyone has the same moral compass that you do. 4. People at the top of the administration have little common sense. 5. The lowest paid employees do most of the important work. 6. People act different at work than they do at home. It is better to keep business relationships at work and social relationships seperated. 7. Have a job that you love to do, not one that pays the most. 8. Never stop learning new ways to do your work. 9. Stand for what you know is right and don't back down. 10. Encourage others to do their best and to be kind to one another. I always kept a file of the notes of encouragement others had sent to me. The days that I was discouraged about my job, I would pull out that file and be reminded that to someone, I made a difference. Don't forget that notes of encouragement that you give to others also make a difference to them. Last, but not least, pay it forward. You never know when you will need help from another person. Helping others always warms the heart.
