Chris's Story
Life
Birth
Born in Winnipeg, the seventh of eight children. Spent my first few years in the suburban splendor of Windsor Park, before ...
School
Went to Grosvenor, River Heights and Kelvin, in Winnipeg. My first job was a paper boy. I used some of my Wednesday Night collections to see the Winnipeg Jets play in the WHA. My first concert was Bachman-Turner Overdrive at the Winnipeg Arena (Best concert was Eric Clapton with Mark Knopler backing him up in the mid-80s).Â
After staying a fourth year in high school, I went to the University of Manitoba where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Work
While I have done some comic work and computer art, I found myself phoning people, working evenings, and asking a whole bunch of questions. Found it paid the bills.
Life
Twenty-five years after high school, it's been an amazing, individual, journey. I want the next five years to be something a little different. I hope to show the care and concern I have for my community, and for the people whose presence still touches me, if only from a distance.

ile there were many people I wanted to get to know better, I always felt embarrassed, and didn't. I think a few of the things I really loved were the crowds that came out to the basketball, volleyball, and football, and everyone going about their days. I just loved it that we won the QCK concert. I miss that old school.
College
Most memorable was being stranded at St. Paul's College at the U of Manitoba during a blizzard, and deciding to live the next year in Residence. Most regrettable was that my dad died in April 1986. After that would be navigating the aftermath of the Manitoban disaster.
Workplace
I've never had a dream job, but I've had my moments. It's hard to think of myself being 43, but as one stage of life ends, another begins. I think the world is an amazing place, and I want to see more of it. Maybe my job is holding down the fort, until the A-Team arrives, or maybe it is to herald the better angels of our nature to recommit ourselves to peace, sharing, and caring.
Military
It was merely 50 days in the summer of 1984, as part of a Summer Youth Employment Program. I was trying to bring discipline and focus into my life. I swore an oath to the Queen to help defend peace, order and good government.
