Chris's Story
Life
I have not changed a lot since school. I never left the St. Louis area and still reside in North county. I concentrated on college and work after graduation and didn't really get going on my personal life for quite a while. I met my husband online and we were married on May 22, 2005. We bought a house in Florissant close to my family. We have 3 furry "children". We're very happy and do hope to add to our family sometime in the near future.
School
I enjoyed the time and friendships I made at McCluer. I have the blessing of keeping in touch with several of my girlfriends from high school on a regular basis. We try to get togehter at least 3 or 4 times a year to catch up.
I think one of my funniest memories from HS was when my Sophomore year the Seniors decided as a Senior prank to perform the marching band half-time show on Mr. Frede's front lawn at 6 o'clock in the morning. I'm not sure who enjoyed it more...Mr. Frede or the police officers that showed up to tell us all to go home.
College
I could probably win the class award for taking the longest period of time to finish my college education. I went to UMSL right out of high school and attended 2 years. I completely burned out and decided to take a semester off. I went ...Expand for more
to Flo Valley after that and completed my Associate's Degree in Legal Studies. I couldn't get a job as a Paralegal like I wanted but "fell" into a great position in the non-profit field and that's where I've stayed for the last 20 years. I finally finished my BS in Sociology in 1997 from UMSL and went on to get my Masters Degree in Public Administration and Nonprofit Management in 2001.
Workplace
Since graduating from McCluer I held some of the typical jobs most people do out of HS...cashier, retail sales, telemarketing. I finally settled into working for non-profit organizations that serve the needs of people with disabilities. This is where I have spent the last 16 years of my professional life. I started in the trenches and have worked my way up and through management to my current position. I work for an advocacy organzation in St. Louis, Paraquad, Inc. that provides a variety of services to people with disabilties in the St. Louis metropolitan area. I am currently in charge of Quality Assurance and Outcome Management for our organization which allows me to wear several different hats and work with all our various programs in some capacity. I love my job and the organization I work for and can't imagine doing anything else!
