Chris's Story

Life I got married in 1969 to Judi Lewis class of 69 and have three children,Scott(38),Chelsea(30)and Sean(21).Scott is married,so we have 3 grandchildren,Ryan(10),Robbie(9)and Riley, she's 15 months.I'm no longer working, but Judi is an executive assisstant for a company called SEMA in Diamond Bar.We have always liked boating so we bought a home in Lake Havasu,Az.and spend a lot of time in the water.Hopefully I can find a Hot Rod of some sort to build, since so many friends have them.See Ya,Chris I thought I might backtrack a little and let you know about my family and how we spent our time in Baldwin Park,Ca. My family migrated from North Carolina and Texas to Northeastern Oklahoma where my dad tried to make a life in the dairy industry.I remember as a young child roaming around our 100 plus acre farm in Chelsea Ok.I had a great time fishing and playing around the farm while my older brother Bill, and my dad were busy with all the work. They tried to make me work but I was only four years old and I managed to squirm out of working. We sold the farm and moved to Baldwin Park in 1955 and settled into our house on Nubia St.on the north side of town. My dad continued in the dairy business for another six years but the split shifts of working the cows was just too much. My dad purchased the Tastee-Freeze on Ramona and Fracisquito on the west side of Baldwin Park, where as a family...Expand for more
of six children,we worked and made our living. My brother,Bill after returning from Viet Nam in 1967 soon purchased his Tastee-Freeze on Baldwin Park Blvd.and Fracisquito, next to Sierra Vista High School. I really didn't want to kill anyone so I entered Mount San Antonio College in Walnut,Ca.I remained in college untill 1969,but soon was married and having our first child. I dropped out of school and my dad helped me purchase our Freeze on Maine and Olive on the north side of town where I grew up. Not soon after,I recieved my new draft status and soon after my Induction Notice. On the advice from a friend I contacted my local congressman, who set an appointment before the Draft Board. Luckily for me they gave me a deferral and I continued with our life at the Tastee Freeze from 1971 untill 1977. We sold the business and bought our 1st home in Covina,Ca. Shortly there after our daughter ,Chelsea was born in July of 1977 and I started my new job working for Sparkletts Water. .I continued in this line of work for the next 28 years but the wages of all that lifting took a toll on my back and I had to retire in 2007. We also had a third child,Sean in 1986 who is a blessing to have around the house,he is a great help. Well, thats about it for now.If anyone remembers my sibs(Joyce, class of 58,Sharon 61,Bill 64,Chris 67,Patty 69,and Terry class of 1973,Please write. Thanks Chris
