Chris's Story
Life
After graduating SJBHS, I spent a year in Ipswich, MA as a novice with the Salesians. I took my first vows in 1971.
I spent 4 years at Don Bosco College, majoring in philosophy (that being the only major offered there!).
My "practical training" included 2 years of teaching high school at SJB in Bellflower -- one year in residence at St. Joseph's in Rosemead (by Don Bosco Tech) and one year at SJB. The third year was in Watsonville, CA working with the "Penny Club" youth group and teaching one junior high math class.
My last year as a Salesian was spent in Berkeley, CA doing the first year of theology studies at the G.T.U. (Dominican school).
I spent the next few years working as a Police Dispatcher in Southern California's South Bay area (Manhattan Beach, etc.) Meanwhile I was working on my graduate degree. I earned an MA in Communication Arts, Television in 19...Expand for more
82 from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles.
While this was going on, I met Karen Willson at a science fiction convention. Eventually we got around to going out together. I proposed soon after getting my M.A. and we married in April of 1983.
I did work in "Hollywood" for a number of years. I interned a summer at KNBC in Burbank. I worked as a Production Assistant at Filmation for two years.
Karen and I wrote over 50 animated TV episodes starting with He-Man and most recently doing an English-adaptation script for the Digimon series. Our peak experience came as staff writers for Ruby-Spears when we sold "Dink, the Little Dinosaur" as a series to CBS. It ran on Saturday mornings for two years and has popped up in re-runs on Cartoon Network from time to time.
Lately I've been working as a technical writer doing software documentation for the credit union industry.
