Christine's Story

Life Throughout my school years, many of you knew me as Chrissy, but only family and a close friend since 7th grade still can get away with calling me that. I prefer Chris. I was most often seen hanging out in the choir room from 7th to 12th grade, and ended up at Ft. Hayes with aspirations of being a famous blues singer. In the end, singing to my babies was famous enough for me - they were my best audience EVER. I have been married for 18 years to a Navy vet, Ron, now head of several departments at a steel company here in Florida. I have two children, Matthew, 17, and Emma, 15, both redheads and both brilliant (who'da thunk it, LOL). I have two dogs, Boos and Goldie, and two cats, BB-kitty and Charlie - also referred to as my children. Medical Transcription is my occupation, owning a small business based out of my home in Bradenton, Florida. My hobbies include creating mosaics, stained glass design, playing pool, singing, playing guitars, and hanging out with friends and family. Movies are my passion. All in all, I believe life has been a good one since graduating from high school. I attended a few quarters at OSU and decided big college life was not for me. I ended up at a technical college and received an associates degree, which led me to my career path now. Raising kids has certainly been a challenge, but definitely a rewarding one. I always try to live one day at a time and get the most out of each day. I'm in my 40's now, and will have to say that my 40's totally rock! Old enough to not care what others think, and young enough to still have fun. I'm not in Ohio often anymore, but sure have wondered about many of you from time to time throughout the years. I've definitely heard a lot of rumors, of course wondering if true, and have heard some sad stories as well. I hope that all of the people I met and was friends with in school all have had happy lives and got from life what you had wished for. School My favorite time in elementary school was hanging with Sandy Stewart and Jill Huff (sp). Boy did we get into some trouble. Can't lie, I was always a good student and didn't have to study much, so I remember more of the fun than the studying. Kickball games down at Calumet are my ultimate happy memory for elementary school. Remember Mr. Fred King, the janitor. I loved him!!!! He saved my butt once and gave me a life lesson that I never forgot. Mrs. C. taught me a love for writing and Ms. S. (now Mrs. T.) gave me a love for learning. Thank you. Junior High was an experience. 7th grade was the worst and the best, but probably my biggest growing up and out period. Lynne L. and I are still friends today. I remember being harassed by C. and E. Sh. because I made cheerleading and one of them didn't. I still to this day wonder why they were...Expand for more
so upset about that and why they chose me to pick on (seven girls made it I think). Ms. T. and Mr. D. definitely created the musician in me. I still do not know who sent me a secret admirer letter, LOL. Obviously we all know that high school was a disappointment, or at least those of us who did not get to go to North High School. I was an honor student until 10th grade, and instead of learning about advanced English in English class, the teacher taught birth control, LOL. That was when school and me parted ways. Mr. C. was my saving grace at L.M., not that I was a great student in his class, but because I had a horrible crush on him and just went to class so I could see him, LOL. Ft. Hayes was my second saving grace, or I would have certainly flunked out of high school. There has never been a moment that I wished I could go back and do anything again during my school years. Although I had some wonderful friends and some really great memories, I was truly picked on by bullies (you all know who you are) on a daily basis. Although my self-esteem suffered to the extreme during those years, the valuable lessons I learned from all of you have helped me raise my children properly and as good human beings, and helped me go on to do great things in my life. So, to all you past bullies out there, thank you. Workplace During high school I worked the OS Fair every summer and knew at that time that retail was not for me. It took me a lot of years to crave lemonade again. I still don't eat fair food, LOL. I then went on to work at Grandma's Fried Chicken. OMG! I think I tried to block that from my memory. Haven't used a deep fryer since. After high school I worked as a Nanny for several years. It was a lasting experience that made me realize that I wanted to wait to have kids. I then went to work for a photography place as a receptionist. Again, good experience, but not the life for me. During this period, I met my husband, quit my job and moved lock, stock and barrel to Florida, then to Akron, where I worked as a receptionist for a law firm (great experience), all the while attending college at night. Upon graduating from college, we had our son, and so I could stay at home with him, I then became a medical transcriptionist and now own my own company. I've been in this field for the last 18 years and love it! Military Okay, I can't lie, I did not do any time in the military, LOL. Because I love to "write," I have to say that my husband was in the Navy - I met him through my brother, Bobby, who was also in the Navy at that time and they were good friends. They both did active duty in the Gulf. I just wanted to say thank you to any military people out there who may happen upon this bio for your service and the sacrifices you have made for me and this country.
