Life
What's life been like after high school and college? Interesting, to say the least.
I've been married since 1998, but we've been together since 1992. We have no kids, nor will be having them, as I can't stand kids. Besides, between my cat and my husband, I have all the challenges I can stand! (Notice the cat comes first.) Unfortunately, both of our dogs have died, the most recent one in early 2007. They're greatly missed.
Since graduating from college, I've had several jobs, some more exciting than others. I've worked in a clinical lab, been a real estate agent, and am currently self-employed. I've also had the pleasure of working in the entertainment industry (and for those of you with your minds in the gutter.....no, nothing bad). My current job is as a medical transcriber. It's very boring, but it pays quite well. I'm also fortunate enough to work from home and set my own schedule so I've been able to pursue other interests, including the entertainment thing and law school.
As far as the entertainment industry, I've been fortunate enough to work with some great people who call me back again and again. Since I haven't been able to work in it as my primary job, I'm not too far up the ladder, but I still enjoy it. I've been in it since 2000 and have done a variety of things from feature length films to comedy specials to commercials and even a music video. Most of the things I've done have been low budget, but ...Expand for more
they've been an excellent way for me to get into the industry when I didn't know anyone and a great way to continue in order to work around my "real job" schedule. I've gained a great deal of respect for the crew after seeing how things actually get done. They truly are an amazing group of people.
Unfortunately, I worked on my last project in June of 2006 as I'm also in law school. As I was coming up to my second year, I found that, between work and school, I had no time to go on any more shoots. Maybe one day I'll get to go back, but maybe when I do, it will be as a lawyer instead. Crew work is great, though, and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything.
My husband has been the one with the steady job while I flutter around trying to figure out what in the world I really want to do when I grow up. He's been a correctional officer since 1997. Luckily he's good at it and seems to enjoy it (as best one can enjoy such work). He's been very supportive of my choices, and I've been very lucky. He's just not very sympathetic when I'm up until 4 AM trying to finish my work. :-)
Well, I guess that's about it. My life in a nutshell. Nothing phenomenal but quite fulfilling and, like I said above, interesting. Now all I have to do is finish law school, pass the Bar (preferably on the first try), and get a job. Maybe that will start a whole new phase in my life. Maybe I'll decide on med school. I suppose anything is possible!
