Christie's Story
Life
I moved to Schleswig in 1969 and started school that fall(4th grade). My family moved to Grinnell, IA, in 1979 while I was at college. In 1980, I got married and in 1989, I got divorced(best thing I ever did). In 1989, I also started nursing school and received my RN diploma in 1992 and have worked in long term care since. I have 2 children--Levi(25) and Hillery(23). I am also the proud grandmother of 5 boys!!!
In 2005, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I had a partial mastectomy, 8 rounds of chemo, and 33 radiation treatm...Expand for more
ents. I spent April through December, in treatment. All my follow up appointments have showed no recurrence. Today, I remain healthy and happy!!!!!!
My sister, Melissa, lost her battle with Breast Cancer on 2-25-2008. She fought hard for over 3 years. We then lost her oldest daughter, Kasey, in April 2008, due to head injuries from a fall. Not a fun year, but God never gives us more than we can handle. I now have 2 more Guardian Angels watching over me!!!
I recently moved to Des Moines after 28 years in Indianola! I love it here.
