Christina's Story
Life
Married my high school sweetheart, Joe Newton October 6, 2001.
Bought our first home May 10, 2002.
Bought our first dog, a german shepherd, Leia May 11, 2002.
Gave birth to our first daughter, Kaitlyn Faith, May 21, 2003.
Gave birth to our second daughter Olivia Carroll, March 28, 2005.
These are the most significant things in my life :O)
School
Mr. Steffey, a history teacher at Edison Junior High signed my yearbook: "Learn to do more than just the minimum and you'll do just fine." That guy had me pegged!
Workplace
I started out working for the State of Michigan my junior year of high school (97-01) as a Student Assistant, fixing people's minor computer problems and pretty much being a go-fer for the department. I had the best boss, Joel Sharkey and I am quite certain I will never work for such a good boss again. Which is unfortunate!!
Then from August 99 - August 00 I worked at a local TV station on the weekends, WILX and that was probably the most fun and the most stressful job. I was a master control operator which means that I was the one with all the power that pushes buttons and watches TV all day, making sure everything runs smoothly and makes sure all the nice peop...Expand for more
le who paid to have their commercials run, actually run. I used to have nightmares about forgetting to run a commercial break... and still do occasionally even though I haven't worked there in 5 years. Very stressful!!
And since August of '01 I have worked at Sparrow Health System as a biomed tech (which is what I went to college for), which means I take care of all the electronic medical equipment such as defibrillators, ECG machines, blood pressure machines, etc. It is a fun and very rewarding job, as I fix the machines that help to fix people. I just don't think I see myself doing this until the end of time. I plan to go back to college in a few years when my life slows down... the two youngins, the full time job, and the fun chores that go along with owning a home are keeping me busy for now. And I'm enjoying the money. :O)
I just feel that there is something I could be doing better with my work time... and I still need to figure out what that is. For right now I am a dedicated wife and mother, and everything else falls in afterward. And I am SO HAPPY doing it. At night after tucking the girls in, I take a deeeeeep breath and think "This is what life is all about"... I love our little family. :O)
