Christina's Story
Life
So, I bet you're wondering who I am. If you weren't, I highly doubt you'd even be reading this right now. Go ahead, look in your yearbook. Yep, I'm one of those people. Someone who looks vaguely
familiar, but you can't remember hanging out with me, having a class with me, even seeing me in the halls. I'm not bitter, I'm fairly happy that high school was not the highlight of my life. Since that time, I've mostly sought out the oddball, surreal things of life. I've seen wild turkeys run down a mountainside and across a highway. I've met a woman who wore a hat made out of the cut dreadlocks of her friends. I've partied with punks, hippies, and ravers. I've been a nanny, bus driver, hostess, inventory auditor, merchandiser, mail clerk, and a carnie. Granted, the carnie job only lasted a day and a half, but in that time I learned that carnies really are a strange bunch of people, especially after I took one to a 24 hour grocery store to buy a discount pregnancy test and...Expand for more
she took it in the store bathroom because the portable toilets at the carnival had no lights. I have not yet experienced any of the Big Moments such as marriage or childbirth, but my life is full and amusing and promises tons more wackiness and absurdity.
School
Thankfully, most of high school has been relegated to some obscure corner of my mind, but the one incident that stands out in stark relief is the time I saw someone turn the corner and slam his face into the center door jam of the history hall.
College
Sac City was a waste of time. Linn Benton staff have no idea how to do anything but frustrate students. But Humboldt, ah, now that was fun. Even with hippies filling my nostrils with b.o. and patchouli, I shall always have a soft spot for Arcata. I may have slacked off on the studies, but we had fun with BS Players and eating hot donut holes on Golden Girls nights. I just wish I didn't leave those rolls on the Plaza for the hippies to eat on Andrew's birthday.
