After graduation, I went to Cerritos College for awhile, but then I got married and had 3 children. I went back to Cerritos when my youngest was about a year old and completed with my ADN-Associate Degree in Nursing in 1979. I took the RN boards and passed and worked as an RN at Downey Community Hospital. I got my BSN at CSU Long Beach in 1982. I worked in nursing for many years mostly in critical care and dialysis. I divorced my 1st husband and moved to Orange County in 1983. I worked for Parker Hannifin Biomedical and traveled for a couple of years and that is where I met my 2nd husband. That marriage ended after only 2 years due to his addiction to alcohol, which eventually led to his death. That marriage led me to Al-Anon where I realized that I had been surrounded by alcoholism all my life and didn't recognize it. I started working in a substance abuse treatment hospital in Orange and eventually became the Director of Nursing and then the Assistant Administrator. That company (CareUnit) went out of business and I got a job at South Coast Medical Center as the Director of Behavioral Medicine. I also married again, for the 3rd time! I decided that I wanted to pursue graduate education and went back to CSU Long Beach to earn my MSW (Master of Social Work) in 1991. I became licensed (LCSW) in 1994.
