Chrissy's Story

Life Hi! I've been in San Diego since 1991. I'm an accountant and work for a church on top of that. No kids. I'm the complete opposite of everything I (and everyone else) thought I would be. And I'm happy. Enjoyed attending the 20th reunion and seeing everyone. Found I cannot drink, at least hold it, like I used to. Not sure why I needed to find that out... Am enjoying connecting up with people I used to hang with, and some that I should have, but didn't. I am eternally grateful to have been connected to the bestest high school and the most awesome people. And if anyone remembers, I STILL LOVE JOURNEY. School I guess I would say there were two teachers that inspired me the most: Hicks and Wacholz. Hicks was funny and when he kicked me out of the class I always got to go to Shannon's class and stare at him (what was he saying, anyway?). Wacholz was just real. Very real. I was so sorry to hear he passed shortly after 1986. I think we wore him down... Mr. Thurman and his plaid pants, and Mr. Traw with his boy toys (I knew it! All over the Merc front page too!) were the WORST! And what was that Vice Principal's name? That poor, poor man. Had the likes of me and Fat Fernando and a bunch of other derelicts for Saturday School repeatedly. I think we finally got out of it because he couldn't handle it. That bucket of paint dumped on Fat Fernando in the 1982-83 yearbook? That was me one Saturday on the back wall behind the tennis courts. That's what you get when you make a bunch of already bored teenagers show up on a Saturday. Oh! His name was Mr. Cooper. Must have been a decendant of Mr. Thurman... Mr. Carlson was pretty entertaining, with his blue, black, or blue-black pens and all. And that permed hair. If you don't remember those things, then you couldn't have had him for English. (How's my grammar so far?) Craziest memory was flying off that Pinto on the side street. Went to the hospital, knocked out. If I had it to...Expand for more
do all over again, I would (I think) do it differently. I am definitely not that person anymore (at all), but can't say for sure that those actions and associations didn't help me find the path I'm on now. I have seen a great amount of people I used to hang out with and I don't think they've moved, or grown. One person we all know is apparently homeless (no names). It's very sad, but just shows that my decision to get away when I did was the right one. Sometimes I wish I could reach a hand out to help them. But they have to do it the same way I did: themselves. Nevertheless, here's to the bizillions of bongs made in ceramics (and getting A's for them too!), the keggers at Peter Sandoval's, Mac's, Feliciano's, John Rosas', Draminski's, hot-tubbing at Robert Accoracci's, cutting school to go over the hill, fishing at the perks, Desch's odd but clear concepts of science, Hicks' short shorts and Walkman, Clay Landram's T-bird, The Breakfast Club, JOURNEY!!!, being critical of others on the Senior Lawn, Beowulf, diagraming sentences, Driver's Ed, pumps & ankle socks, big hair with pink Aquanet and 24" waistlines. There you have it, the bad, the good, and the GONE! Okay, looking at that inventory, about 90% of that would NOT happen again. Especially the big hair! Workplace Graduated from waitressing and the food industry in 1988 or so. Got my first real administrative job then, bought a typewriter and taught myself how to type, despite not wanting to cut my fingernails (and don't). Self-taught in a lot of programs and office equipment, learned insurance billing and bookkeeping, then got real about life. Have a Bachelor's in Business Management. Settled down as VP Administration at Deering Banjo Co. Me, banjos? I guess so...Hope to someday go back to my city by the Bay and roll up my sleeves there. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Peter Sandoval, because (the name os all I'm putting into the Story Wizard)
