Christine's Story
Life
My husband Troy and I work together in private Optometric practice in San Diego. We have three busy office locations and enjoy growing our staff and business. Free time, although limited, is usually spent taking advantage of all that Southern California has to offer. Our famous weather and proximity to ocean, mountains and desert have made new adventures possible. We've taken many white water rafting and camping trips; kayaking, rock climbing and sky sailing are just a few others. My husband keeps trying to convince me to go skydiving with him. There is no way I'm jumping out of a plane! We have two dogs and three cats (ie the San Diego Zoo). I also enjoy time in my kitchen: grinding my own wheat flour and making bread; as well as homemade peanut butter. It's amazing what you can do with one of those blenders from Jamba Juice!
School
I will never forget the home economics courses with Mrs. Russell. All of her recipes and tales from her adventures as a missionary. Julie Kantor and I whipped up some yummy stuff.
Or the time in Biology lab when we got in trouble for playing around with the dissection of the day. I think it was a fish?
I can't remember how many times I got locked out of morning chapel for being 3 minutes late! I guess that was suppose...Expand for more
d to teach me a lesson?
How about when Julie was Mary, mother of Jesus, and our PE teacher loaned us his baby for the Feast of Lights at Pioneer Memorial? What a brave dad!
College
After my three years at Andrews, my fourth year I finished up at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. For Graduate School, I moved to Boston, Massachusetts to attend the New England College of Optometry. I graduated June, 1998 with my Doctorate.
Workplace
My workplace includes three distinct office locations throughout San Diego County. Each office has a unique personality which helps keep my day from being too repetitious. My new associate, Dr. Yana Repkin, is a 2004 graduate of the University of California, Berkley School of Optometry. She is fluent in both Russian and Spanish. I have enjoyed providing continuing education for the School Nurses in our district and helping the Lion's Club establish a clinic in Tecate, Mexico complete with all the medical devices necessary to provide comprehensive eye care.
Military
My Military experience entailed Clinical Residency at the Naval Hospital in Newport, Rhode Island and teaching/clinical work at the Veteran's Outpatient Clinic in Worcester, Massachusetts and Veteran's Administration Hospital in Brockton, Massachusetts.
