Christine's Story

Life (5/8/2008 updated) School Wow, it has been some time since I last visited this site. Well, to bring you up to date, I did get an "A" in Microbiology, so all my science classes are done now. Yippee!!! With that finished, I did aplly for the Nursing Program here at Chabot and didn't get in. They had 690 applicants and only 414 were eligible. I was one of the 414 but at that point they choose applicants by lottery. Boo hoo :o( I didn't get accepted and not even waitlisted. I did apply to another Nursing Progam in the area at Ohlone College. I don't know how many applications they received but I know it is less than Chabot. I didn't get in, however, I'm on the waitlist there, #55. At least that is a start. I'm carrying 12 units at school-Nutrition 1, Speech 1 and Intermediate Algebra plus I'm tutoring in Microbiology, Physilogy and English. I'm also a learning assistant for one of the Physiology instructors. This semester has been quite the challenge as it has bee two years since my last math class. Lets just say that math and I aren't best friends :o) So far I believe I have an "A" in Nutrition and Speech and a "B" in math. In my last posting I mentioned the TEAS test which is an aptitude test the Nursing schools are giving to potentially eligible applicants. By being on the waitlist, I had to take this test sooner than I expected. Well, we can all breath a sigh of relief because I just recently took it and passed. Another Yippee is in order. Now it is back to real life (I had to adjust my school schedule to cram for ...Expand for more
that test) and finishing this semester with good grades. Wedding Plans At the last posting we (Peter and I) had the photographer and wedding site booked. We now have a coordinator for the day, florist booked and flowers decided on, and the Officiant (Peter's father is a minister) booked. My dress is being made by my aunt who is a master seamstress. I go down to Westminster a the middle of this month (May 16) for the last fitting. I'm hoping to bring the dress back with me. The invitations have been mailed and we are getting RSVPs more or less on a daily basis. I'm storing items for decorating the wedding site. We also have the wedding music chosen and a basic timeline to follow for the day. There are still a few more details like ordering the cake and picking out a menu. Our hope is to have everything settled by June 1 which will be two weeks before the actual day (June 15). Keep your fingers crossed that we can get it done, because I want to coast up to that day if possible. Work I'm still working part-time for Borders. I'm in their Specialty Retail division (Borders Express). You have to blame it on my love of books that has kept me there so long (about 8 yrs). I also work part-time for Weight Watchers as a receptionist, but right now I only fill in when someone can't work their shift. My third part-time job is tutoring which I mentioned earlier and its cool because I'm already at the school most days that I tutor. I could go on, but I'll stop here for now. Thanks for visiting my profile. Take care, Christine
