Christopher's Story
Life
I was an Army brat growing up, so I've lived in quite a few different places. My heart however, is back in Tacoma, where I lived the longest period of time in one place (5 years!).
I started school at Fort Huachuca at Myer Elementary (1st - 2nd grades) in 1981. We moved back to Germany in the middle of 2nd grade, and I attended Karlsruhe American Elementary School (2nd - 4th grades) there. My teachers in Germany were Mrs. Wilber, Ms. Nunez, and Mrs. Monroe.
I went to school in Tacoma at Mann Elementary (4th - 6th grades), Stewart Middle (7th - 8th grades (my class was the first to go to Middle School in Tacoma - it was junior high before)), and Mount Tahoma for my freshman year. My teachers at Mann were Mrs. Miller, Mrs. LaRue, and Mr. Watson.
My family moved to New Jersey then, and I attended Pemberton Township High School for two years. After Dad retired from the military, we moved to my birth city, Colorado Springs, where I graduated from Widefiel...Expand for more
d High School.
I joined the Army after high school, though I didn't stay in long due to my not being able to meet the physical fitness requirements. I rejoined the Army two years later and served honorably for four years, after which I returned to civilian life back in Colorado Springs. Four years after leaving the Army, I re-enlisted, and my first assignment after rejoining was Fort Bliss, Texas.
I was later stationed at Fort Lewis from January 2006 until June 2006, at which time my unit moved to Vilseck, Germany. I was deployed to Iraq from August 2007 until November 2008, and will be leaving for Fort Huachuca at the end of March 2009.
UPDATE (4 August 2011):
I arrived at Fort Huachuca in early February 2009 and then deployed to Afghanistan from there in April 2010 for one year. After I returned to Fort Huachuca at the end of March 2011, I then got ready for my next assignment. I'm now stationed at Goodfellow, AFB, Texas (San Angelo) as of August 2011.
