Christopher's Story
Life
I wonder how much control you really have over your life?
Is there really such thing as fate or destiny; no matter how hard you try to avoid going somewhere, will you get there anyways?
Not necessarily avoid, per se, but just venture off on a different path. For example, flashback to the summer of 1987. I had just broken up with someone very special, you know who you are, now is the time I must decide what I'm going to do with the rest of my life (at least that's what I was told.)I applied to two art (photo) schools for the fall and now I was just waiting; the whole process was infuriatingly slow. While I was waiting I received phone call from a school I had applied to a year before. The phone call was my acceptance and now I had to decide do I go to school I wanted to go to or do I go with a sure thing? So I went, to school in Pasadena, while supporting myself as a bartender, projectionist at the Academy Theater & tour guide for Universal Studios. I performed ...Expand for more
several years of stand-up in many clubs around LA for about five years; Then moved on to improv for about five years.
I dabbled as a computer network technician for a few major corporations; Apple computers, Clifford electronics, Southern California Edison. I was living up in San Francisco when the dot com bubble burst in 2000 and was "downsized" as over half the industry was. I decided this was not the path I wanted to be on.
I took a Zen approach to my life by selling most of my personal possessions and moved to Taipei Taiwan to teach English.
I was sitting in a hot spring in Hsin Peitou (which is actually a river that flows through the center of this small village) when my mind was finally clear enough to see my future; it was really my past. After my one year contract was over, I moved back to Los Angeles. I went back to college to finish some general education classes and reapplied to two different art (photo) schools; working as a free-lance photojournalist.
