Christopher's Story

Friends. I'm going to make an attempt to provide my email address by spelling it out. It is cec at nhkc dot com. You can see additional photos at the picasa web album I put together for my dad's friends with his old photos. It's picasaweb dot google dot com forward slash charlesecrum. You have to run all of it together with no spaces. You can catch our family web album on picasa as well. Use the same address but insert crumfamilylenexa where you woulf have put charlesecrum. I'm also out on facebook and you can find that page at facebookdotcom forward slash ccrum. Here's my story. Graduated in 1980. Moved to Dallas for about a year where I lived with my father Chas and his girlfriend Debbie. Moved back and attended Cloud County for a couple of years. Ended up marrying the daughter of the owner of the local news paper, sold insurance then sold cars. We had two children together, Justin who turned 26 in March and is 6'3" and my daughter Alyssa who turned 25 in May and got married on Sept. 20th, 2008. I moved to Manhattan KS after my divorce in November 1986 and worked in the admissions office of my family's business Crum's Beauty College with my father Chas and Grandmother Lucy. I basically recruited beauty school students. Pretty cool gig for a twenty-something divorcee. I moved to Kansas City in June of 1997 to work as Director of Admissions for The Brown Mackie College. I was promoted to Chief Admissions officer in August of that same year and oversaw admissions operations for both the Kansas City and Salina KS campuses. I accepted a position as Sales Manager for New Horizons Computer Learning Center in 1999. I was pretty determined to remain single after my divorce and was successful at that quest until I met Allison in 2002. We met walking our dogs at the apartment complex we both lived at. We were just friends at first and then the inevitable happened and we started seeing each other romantically. We have been together ever since then. Al was divorced but didn't have any kids so I always knew a child would be in our future if I wanted to be with her. f my life and the loves of my life. Ironically, my daughter found out she was pregnant 3 months after we got pregnant. So Joel has a nephew that is 3-months younger named Carter McKinley Warren. Allison and I moved to Philadelphia in August 2004 where I worked as VP of Consumer Education for the New Horizons in King of Prussia. We lived in a little town on the Delaware river called New Hope which is just 8 miles from the spot that George Washington crossed the Delaware with his troops. Loved it up there but hated the hour and a half drive to work each day (in good traffic.). My father took ill and my grandmother was struggling at trying to manage him. So we decided to move back to Kansas in October of 2006 so I could offer support to my family. My father passed over on January 8, 2008. My grandmother had a stroke on January 2nd and never recovered. She passed over 3 weeks after my father. So, 2008 was a rough road. Had a baby, became a grandfather, my father and grandmother both passed away and I married off my daughter... all over the course of the past 12 months. I currently work as Vice President of New Horizons in Kansas City. Allison and I finally tied the knot on April 21, 2009 on a beach in Costa Rica. Al and I own a home in Lenexa and along with Joel we have 3 pets. MacNeenderberry is a Soft-coated wheaten terrier and she sets the pace for our household. Mrs. Picklesbee (The Pickle) is a 7 lb terrier / Rheses monkey mix that we rescued from the animal shelter and there is Litter, our 20 lb snow shoe cat. Our household is always busy. But I still have time to pursue a hobby or two. I do competition cooking and along with a friend started a competition cooking team 5 years ago called The Pickled Pig. We do BBQ and chili competitions though I have been too busy with the kid this year to really compete. I know this probably sounds a little red-neckish but it's a great reason to get together with friends and have a little party. Plus, we cook some pretty damn good food and our expertise isn't limited to gormet bbq and chili.
