After Rogers, I went to Northeastern University in Boston to study Civil Engineering (along with Steve Haslam).
JoAnn Jacobs went to NU, too. She and I dated for about 10 years starting Jr year at RHS. Apparently, it didn't work out ...
In 1973, Nixon closed Quonsett Point Naval Air Station where my Dad had worked since the end of WW2. My folks and younger brother (in 8th grade) moved to San Diego where my Dad took a position at North Island Naval Air Station.
I bounced back and forth between Newport/Boston and San Diego until 1979 when I escaped from the frozen northeast tundra and made Southern California home. I've made my living in Engineering, mostly in the aerospace sector.
After Tommy Noonan got out of the Air Force, he wound up in San Diego - we were housemates until he went back to Newport in 1981. Do you remember Mike Williams from Fort Adams? He was my housemate around 1982.
Job opportunities brought me to Huntington Beach in 1992. I'm currently working for GKN Aerospace in Garden Grove - about 5 miles from my house. We design and manufacture canopies for jet fighters, windshields and passenger windows for military and commercial aircraft, and bullet resistant windshields and windows for land vehicles. Up armor Humvee window sets for our military's fleet have been a big seller!
I really do enjoy my job! I recently celebrated 25 years and am still working at it!
I finally got married in 1993. Celia and I have a daugther, Jennifer, born in 1994.
Celia and I separated in 2004 and were officially divorced July 17, 2009 - be sure to spread the word 8^). Celia past away from Lung cancer in 2017.
Jennifer graduated from Marina High in June '12. The Marina mascot is the VIKING! How 'bout that? Jen s 30 and, after living with me for the last few years, recently relocated to Seattle. She is a phlebotomist with Quest Diagnostics.
Being a 'late bloomer', I don't have any grandkids - and better not for a few years!!!
Life is good! I love the climate here!

e hadn't been a reunion since 1990! So, I get together with a few of my closer friends and we have dinner at Salas' and do a BBQ at Bill Sullivan's. Michael Davis, Bill Sullivan, Tommy Noonan, Steve Haslam, Billy Northup, and Mike Trezvant are regulars for our bootleg reunions.
Our class has now had a 39th, 40th, 45th, and, due to Covid, a rescheduled 50th reunion in 2022. Instead of calling the rescheduled reunion a 52nd, we called it the 'Class of 70 Turns 70 Extravaganza'. Most of us turned 70 in 2022!
I was ln Newport Summer 2006. My brothers and I brought our parents ashes back to Newport to be interred in the Dunn family plot at St Columba's. Mom and Dad both passed away in the third week of March 2006. Although they had lived in California for 33 years, Newport was still home to them. We had a mass at St Augustine's (where my mom grew up and the folks were married) followed by a luncheon at the Atlantic Beach Club. We were overwhelmed by the turnout of friends and relatives! It was quite a tribute and a wonderful climax for the 'Bill and Kay Final Tour'. Taking them home was absolutely the right thing to do!
Update: I was in Newport in 2010 and attended our 40th Reunion at the Hibernian Hall - it was a blast! Thanks Barbara (Quattrucci) Koziara!

Military
Classified 1A and did not take a 2S student deferment. According to the rules at the time, if I was called, I could then take the deferment. The logic for not taking the deferment was that as 1A, my eligibility would be for 1 year until I turned 19 - as 2S deferred, my eligibility would be extended until I turned 28. In 1970, we had NO idea how long the Vietnam War would continue.
Smart, eh?
It was UNTIL, shortly before the lottery, Tricky Dick decreed that no more deferments would be issued - what you are is what you are! Uh-oh.
Sweated heavily while watching the lottery. My birthday was matched with #342. Sweet. I never win anything. Bummer.
I think they drafted into the #40's my year. With #342, in the event of an all out, global conflict, women and children would have been drafted first and I would have been classified a hostage.
