Christopher's Story
I have been looking for people's stories, but so far haven't seen any. I will start and hopefully inspire a few others to write something.
After graduating from HHS, I went to Cornell for electrical engineering. I was not prepared for the competitive academic environment and blew out in three semesters. Wound up taking a job at the Cornell Synchrotron Lab (high energy electron-positron collider) in the IT department and stayed for about four years.
Moved to California in 1981 and went to work for Digital Equipment Corporation. This started my career in Silicon Valley high tech. Worked for six start ups. Trav...Expand for more
eled extensively in the US, Europe, and a bit in Asia. Lived in Europe from 1987-92. I am in the twilight of my career and hope to retire by Sept 2025. Looking forward to traveling the world, this time only for pleasure!
Along the way I went back to school and finished my undergraduate degree taking courses nights and weekends. I was married and divorced. I have two amazing sons who are doing well and living productive independent lives.
Two years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. The tumor was removed and so far I am doing ok. The experience has changed my perspective on life and time. Every day is a gift.
