Christopher's Story

08/04/2009 - Life is good :) Still married, still no kids and still working for IBM. I am about half way through my ITA and ITIL certifications (for your techies out there). We are nearly finished with a complete website redesign...should launch late this month, but even with the existing look we have been seeing some nice sales despite the recession so I really cannot complain. The past year was rough and I am happy to be through with it. Only a week after my previous posting I ruptured a couple of discs in my neck, which effectively paralyzed my left arm (and was quite painful 24x7 despite lots of drugs). I had surgery in June 2008 and have since made a full recovery. It is amazing how things change sometimes so quickly. The good news is that my surgeon cleared me to go back to my gym & yoga routine so I am looking forward to getting back in shape. We have some travel plans as well...we will be visiting Hedonism II (or III not sure yet) in Jamaica and cant wait to get crazy. Las Vegas is in the cards too (forgive the pun) Atlanta, Dallas, Tampa and Cancun if we can squeeze it in over the holidays. Next year we will be going to Ibiza and Amsterdam. I was in NYC a month ago and I couldnt believe how much it changed and didnt change. I do believe the last time I drove in the state of NY some of the same potholes I saw this past month were there back then...does anything get fixed? Didnt miss the traffic, but it did feel great to walk around in Manhattan again. Not that I would trade back though...Fort Lauderdale and Miami are beautiful and we truly love it here. It does help that I dont have to commute :) (damn I hated commuting from New City to Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn...so much time wasted in a car). We are going to see Deadmou5 at Club Mansion this Saturday on South Beach. We got to hear him spin at Ultra this year and him and his show were fantastic. We will be doing Ultra again next year but in a slightly different way...cannot wait for March lol! Cheers everyone :) 01/29/2008 - Still working for IBM. Still happily married. No kids (yet). My wife is a month away from receiving her PhD. She landed a great position at a prestigious university and will also be professoring there as her schedule allows. Life has been eventful. We spend a lot of time going out to clubs and enjoying life with friends, mostly couples we have gotten to know well. My web business is growing and my day trading has been helping pay the bills too. We are both in the gym often and have been spending time walking on the beach, taking in the gorgeous Florida scenery / climate. Life Update: (1/31/2005) - Anyways, the age of 30 has been HUGE. I turn 31 in 3 months and I feel like I have already accomplished so much. I have quit smoking (smoked since college) for 4 months now, lost 20 pounds, got engaged, bought a house, and started a business with my father (lucrative side business in jewelry). So I am pretty proud of me. I also have been thinking of some old friends I havent heard from in a while which is why I am back to this site (again). 01/21/2002: After 4 years of insanity with one additional year of travel within the US/Canada/Mexico, I graduated with a bachelors degree in computer science (1997). From the moment I graduated up to the present I have been designing and building informations systems infrastructure for Fortune 1000 companies (and taking numerous certification courses). I specialize in multi-tiered, high availability environments based on UNIX (Linux and Sun Microsystem's Solaris) platforms. I have been working full time as well as doing freelance work. At the present, I am working as a Systems Management Professional, for IBM, at American Express. I essentially do everthing from Level 3 systems administration to data center management, change management, as well as engineering/architecture work when required. 11/30/2004: For the last few years I was flying between NY and Florida almost contantly. My position kept me in NY for more than a month at a time, but I was always able to spend 4-6 days in between those 5-6 week stints at ho...Expand for more
me with my lady. Since December of 2003, however, I have been working from home with only 10 weeks of away travel (Minneapolis, Dallas, Chicago, Phoenix, Sedona, New York and Boston) in all of 2004. In transitioning from NY to Florida full time, my position in IBM transitioned to. Additionally, I have completed a masters degree in business administration with a specialization in global management (06/2004). School Seems like such a long time ago, but it has been only ten years. There really is not much to say. Only a handful of people out of our graduating class ever got to really know me. I generally kept to myself and while everyone was involved with their respective activities or the "he said/ she said" / "he drives / she drives" nonsense of the time, I was busy reading the Wall Street Journal or having fairly in depth conversations spanning a variety of subjects in the library (much to the chagrin of Ms. Faust) with Cameron Lewis (he was new in our senior year...I had known him from going to camp as a kid), Raymond Mark, Melissa Moccia and a couple of others. Either that or I was busy writing someone's paper (and no...even in college I didnt take checks or charge) to make some extra income. So, I wasnt exactly a popular guy in high school, but then again I didnt do alot to give anyone the chance to get to know me either. I remember being very fond of several girls in the class, but the only one who at least would really give me the time of day and treated me like "someone" was Charity Sabader, probably the most beautiful woman in the graduating class in my opinion. I hope she is well, wherever she may be. 04/22/03 - I had a great time at the reunion! It was very nice seeing so many old faces. On the other hand it looks like not much has changed with some people...pity. Also, and you know who you are, tanning beds are really bad for you...cant you see that? 01/31/05 - Life is great! MBA in hand, newly engaged to a gorgious and exceptionally intelligent lady (who just won a full ride for her PhD in Developmental Psychology from Florida International University after completing her masters in behavior analysis with a 3.9 GPA), working from my home office for IBM, and new home on a country club golf course only 4 miles away from the beach/Atlantic Ocean, 10 minutes to downtown Las Olas Blvd, Fort Lauderdale and 30 minutes to South Beach, Miami. We all have our ups and downs in life, but fortunately the ups continue to outweigh the downs in my life, and for that I am greatful to the lord & lady. College Here is where things get interesting. Few believe it until speaking with many of my college friends, but in college I met a very unique, brilliant and insane guy who quickly became my best friend. He is single handedly responsible to the longest party binge I had ever hoped to be on. It is because of him that I went from extreme introvert, to the almost-always-give-too-much-information extrovert. By my sophomore year, i had developed a very large social circle, and "popularity" really didnt mean anything anymore, but I would say that my presence was often in demand at a lot of functions. This was further exascerbated when I pledged a fraternity and was later made both social chair and house manager. All this while taking a brutal computer science regiment of classes and working on the side made life quite full. In my junior year of college, I fell in love with a beautiful, sensual, intelligent and kind young woman. Our first night together was a magical evening worthy of more than one chapter in a trashy romance novel and 8 years later we continue to work towards our common goals while keeping a very dynamic and exciting (and I do mean VERY exciting *grin*) relationship together. She and I are pictured together in the two pictures I have attached. The one where we are dressed in black was taken at night, on our balcony, in Pompano Beach, Florida. The second, was taken in Palm Beach Gardens at an "erotic theme" hotel party for adult couples and single females (No single men allowed ;) ). About 400 people showed up and it was a blast!
