Christopher's Story
Life
After graduation, I went to UK - College of Architecture (not a real big suprise, huh.) I met my wife Pam there our freshman year and we dated for about 2 years before getting married in August of 1989. We have a wonderful son Joshua who is thirteen and in 8th grade at Lexington Traditional Magnet School. He is a wonderful student near the top in his class and a monster football player on his middle school team (playing both offensive and defensive line).
I payed my dues after college working for a couple of local Architects (designing numerous schools and other buildings over the last 15 years, including the newest dorms at KCC in Grayson, and Elementary and High schools in 5 or 6 counties in KY)and a couple of general contractors. After moonlighting for 8 years or so I ventured out on my own and began a design build firm with a college buddy and we began building high end residential projects around the central part of the state. My business partner decided to move to Georgia with his family and I decided to get back into Commercial work (...Expand for more
so I closed out the company). I did figure out that owning your own company isn't all its cracked up to be - 16 to 18 hour days x 6 days a week isn't very fun.
I now work for Messer Construction Co. as a Senior Project Manager out of their Lexington Region office. I am working on the new UK College of Pharmacy building on campus (a small 120 million dollar building with each of its 6 levels and penthouse level being the size of 1-1/2 football fields in area). I also have been teaching at Lexington Community College (Bluegrass Community and Technical College)since 2000 in the Architectural Technology program - Construction Management. I never thought I would be teaching college.
My Wife is a perschool music teacher at a private school here in Lexington. This area has been home to us for the last 19+ years.
My family and I are active members of the East End Church of Christ (I serve as a deacon there)in Lexington. We really enjoy our lives, our friends and our family. I hope to hear from some of my old friends and reconnect after all these years.
