Christy's Story

After leaving Central, I went to John Brown University for a year. That is where I met my husband, Chuck Bollinger, a music major from Minnesota. I then went to OU for one sememster - majoring in pharmacy. Then back to Tulsa attending TU for a year. At that point I realized I didn't really know what I wanted to be when I grew up, so I dropped out of school and got married. We lived in Iowa for a year while Chuck went to piano tuning school. Then on to Houston. We had two children, Jason & Shelley (after my friend Shelley Stunkard, for anyone who may have known her at Wright). I went back to school and got my degree in nursing in 1988. I later got my masters as a pediatric nurse practitioner in 1995. I worked a few years in general practice before taking a position at Texas Children's Hospital, working in endocrinology. alized why all those crazy people put bumper stickers on their cars saying "ask me about my grandchild". There is nothing like it. A few years later, I found myself single again. Last year my sister Terie (class of 1972) moved to Wichita and encouraged me to come live with them. I have been here now for a little over a year. I am back in general practice again. I just started a new position last month. I work with 2 pediatricians that I really enjoy. I had planned to stay in Kansas for just a few years, but now I'm not sure what to expect. I am totally dependent on the Lord to show me where I need to be and right now that is definitely here. Since starting my new job, I lost my mom, hurricane Ike came thru Houston (where my daughter still lives) and 2 weeks later my daughter was married in Houston. I am really glad now to not have any big events in my life. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving when all the family will be together again.
